Seriously? No metaphor allowed? Bwahahahaha . . . . . Tell the OP about what's sexy, but only in the most literal of senses cuz the OP doesn't like / get / appreciate / legitimize / dignify metaphors? People have been using metaphors to describe ineffable & concrete experiences for thousands of years, & I doubt that's stopping anytime soon . . . .. Even on this thread, & even after you chide them repeatedly . . . . . &, last time I looked, there are no metaphor dictators, nor thread emperors, & so I don't think you're gettin' either job no matter how much you audition for 'em . . . . *walks off laughing, shaking head, pauses* ETA: & did you really jus' call most fiction writers & nearly every poet 'lazy' for using metaphor? You crack me up . . . . . *wanders off, whistling, chuckling* quote:
ORIGINAL: Esinn The heart is a involuntary muscle, about the size of your fist, designed to pump blood through the body using 4 chambers. Our heart works if we desire it to or not, it simply does not give a shit. The heart knows nothing of love, happiness or emotion - it simply has not evolved in this fashion - this is a medieval misunderstanding What we can change, understand and enjoy are our thoughts, our ideas, our ability to communicate. Becoming more sensual, playful or informed. Many have expressed: Intelligence, Passion, Humor, Pride and strength. These all fall within the realm of the mind. Possibly ancient Egyptians believed this had something to with a heart. Since that ancient time we have now learned to understand this is simply untrue. The thumping of the heart is one of the major systems which keeps us alive. I understand the metaphysical connection people wish to make. However, it is just a lazy view of looking at things. Why not really question ourselves and demand answers? Being open and honest with ourselves is so much more fun - who more important to be honest to?
