I personally read the profile completely before i ever send a message, whether a reply or first message. However my messages to tend to be one liners becuause i am better at expressign myself in conversations. Their are those times where a person will ask for something, a word, to answer a few questions etc, and i answer those if i see them ask for a message to do that. For me its a matter accuratlly expressing myself, and i am not a person who would honestly want to accedently miss represent myself.

Hmmm, I would have to question what you are really complaining about. Since you only seek online entertainment anyway.

I would have to say most of you do not read profiles before sending a message.
One liners get deleted without a reply.

Yes, there are alot of wannabes and phonies looking for a free ride.

I apply the three strike rule to a profile. I will scan a profile looking for anything that i consider not to be compatable with what i am seeking. If I haven't hit three after an initial scan, I will go back and read the profile thoroughly.

I won't read a profile that is hard to read due to screwy color combinations. I will stop reading a profile that is full of typos, continual spelling errors, all in capitol letters, or full or abbreviations and slang and they will receive the collarme formatted "no thanks" reply.

I put as much (usually more) effort into a reply as is given to the email that is sent to me.

First impressions are important. If someone doesn't take the time or energy to present themselves in a manner that is legible, then the heck with them.

edited to add: and i will ignore a profile full of "You MUST"s also

My first face to face with someone from collarme went, on the whole, very well. He was very much as he presented himself and a very sweet boy. I didn't worry about being able to get more than an initial gut level reaction to him from online as I was looking for something in person. Not every worthy candidate for real time is good at expressing themselves online

In English, this means exactly... what? The whole thing is free.

Irish's sentiment is worth repeating:

as long as i have been on this site and the number of introdutory emails and greetings i have sent out have shortened due to lack of responses or replies. the reasoning behind this is that, why type my fingers to the bone and not get even a courteous reply of "No thank you" or even a "fuck off"

if i receive a reply after a one or two (perhaps even three) line intro, i would then expand to even longer emails.

Good catch, Irish!
I comes to My mind that there was a recent thread where several people stated they never bother to look at profiles of people who post, where as I often do, especially depending on the tone of the post.
This is a great example of why it is helpful to flip over and give it a glance!

Mikey, the group will just have to get together and craft a form letter for you that you can send out with just a keystroke. Perhaps something like:

Dearest {customer}

Seeing that you are a {sub|slave|slut|dom|domme|pervert|hamster}, I thought it {imperative|compulsary|boring} to write you. I personally like your {lips|nipples|hamster}.

I'm sure you will enjoy my {5|6|7|8|9|10|11} {inches|centimeters} which I polish and tenderize with lavender lotion every {day|hour|10 minutes}.

etc, etc.

Yep... everyone is a fake and a phoney. You have exposed us and we are all very impressed that it took you five days from the time you joined to realize this. We are very sorry for the deception and we hope that you can now move on to another free site and bitch about the fakes there. Thanks for your input and insight and your valued posts in the forums. You will be missed.

I have a complaint.

It is a widely held convention that Irony and Sarcasm at an advanced level is strictly the province of the British. The quote above shows an inhabitant of the United States being in blatant contravention of this international understanding and as such I formaly demand his immediate deportation over the Atlantic to where he obviously belongs!

Other than my faux pas with the time that this person joined (I read it wrong) I did not think my post was sarcastic. I resent your insistence that I am part of a subversive group of Brits. I am, in fact, German and Irish. This means that I get angry quickly and remember it for one hell of a long time. I am a native born American no matter what evidence to the contrary that you have trumped up against me. It is typical that a fake, such as yourself, would outright accuse an innocent man of being fake as well. The pot calling the kettle black? I should think so. I have saved your slanderous post and I will be closely watching your every move from now on. If you so much as belch in my general direction I will have the courts come down on you like a buzzard on a gut wagon. So, a bit of advice to you... remember that I am watching and waiting for you to trip up. May your camel spit in the eye of the village witch. Good day to you sir.

Ah general confusion and threats of law-suits, that is far more appropriate behaviour for a colonial. So long as you book yourself in for a series of sessions with your local therapist then your behaviour will be deemed to have reverted to type and the team of international lawyers sent to assure your relocation will be recalled.

The small flat near to Battersea dogs home and team of de-programers will be kept on standby for a time in case it should prove needed.

Yes, this is a good reason why.

I have to say there is a frustrating dichotomy at work here, Dommes get overwhelmed with PMs, sub men send out lots of PMs. Dommes are not interested in one-line PMs, subs are not interested in writing long introductory PMs without getting a reply, not even a thinks, but no thanks.

*sigh*

Well, here are a few of my thoughts:

I do not like to write long introductory PMs because I tend to put something of myself into what I write. If I get no reply, it is a time waster for me! But I DO try to peak her interest in a few lines, ALWAYS be polite, and ALWAYS respectful. If she even writes back a SMALL PM of encouragement, I will write a much longer PM.

Here is another drag: There are Domme profiles with no picture, no real description, no list of interests, etc. I want to be able to start off by AT LEAST saying, hey ... we have this in common, or I like what you said about that! Profiles that say "write me. be detailed. no fakes." Don't tell ME anything about the Domme! I have heard Dommes complain "why write to me if you don't read the profile, or if we are incompatible?"

Well, it all goes back to the dynamics of numbers. There are MANY male subs, and precious few Dommes. We must write to as many as possible, and seek out ones that will at least show a little interest. There are many Dommes that I would NOT write to, becasue of incompatibility, or location, etc. But still, it is a long, hard search for the one that may be a good match.

Aw, fergus, you should be ashamed:

(a) For breaking up this engaging thread between Guage and Raven,

(b) Attempting to inject actual thought into CollarChat, and

(c) For your nice rustic picture that no longer shows off that Charlie Manson look.

and precious few Dommes

Precious and dommes? Now THERE's two words you seldom see in the same sentence! (laughing)

You claim to be expert in so many areas, I can only assume that you have several years of BDSM living under your belt. Surely, you've learned by now that finding a quality submissive/slave takes time especially given your very, very narrow scope. Add the demand for tribute and only the possiblity they 'may' get a photo of you, and your search could take years.. all for some online play. Why don't you have a glass of wine and chill out a bit. You sound very stressed.
