Seriously, and all due respect, the only posts which appeared to be judgemental on this thread were yours.

Really? Interesting. What seemed judgemental to you?

Perhaps you misread what I wrote or perhaps I did not type it as clearly as I could have.

i reread them. i think sometimes words on a screen can take on a "tone" or mood of their own. i probably just misinterpreted. It started feeling like this was yet another debate on this forum of "I think this way so you're wrong." versus "Oh yeah, well I think THIS way so YOU'RE wrong!" Hopefully it is not that. It seemed there was an interpretation toward those saying we don't often say "play or scene" were somehow claiming riteousness to something, which i honestly don't think is the case.

Anyway, i am tired, and read your post which was filled with humorous comments as something different than what it was.

Thanks for asking. It prompted me to rethink it.

But like Angelic.... I don't play games... I take my submission seriously... as does Master.. even if he's "playing" with me.

As a literal person - I understand the intent behind the statement. But as a realist I just think geeez lighten up a little - the words toy and play and scene just aren't ALL that judgemental as you seem to be making them into being.

The only people that seem to see them as being "less" or "bad to use" or "a sign of less sincerity or taking their commitment less seriously than a real dom/sub/slave/whathaveyou would" and only see them used as someone implying or saying that they might *not* be serious or sincere or "just as playing a game" ....

... are the ones doing the most judging of those particular words being used than anyone else.

pardon me? i wasn't judging anyone. [8|]

Sometimes serving my Master is entertaining to me, but mostly it is having my envelope pushed so that i can grow further in my self and in my submission. Those are things i take seriously and do not apply the word "entertaining" to.

Himself and I are exactly the opposite. "Mostly" it's fun and entertaining. I think living together for 9 years, without lots of the fun and entertainment part, we'd have burned out long ago. Having my envelope pushed is rarer and because it's done less often, it's generally much more intense and I have a greater appreciation for it and it's much more productive for our personal growth, but I wouldn't want to have to maintain those levels every day and I don't believe Himself would either. I don't know that I have the physical or the mental capacity to do so. There are times when we maintain extremely high levels of intensity for a week or more and the drop from that is excruciating and very hard to deal with for both of us, so just for the sake of our sanity, those are, generally only done ever two or three months or so. High intensity scenes are perhaps once a month or so. We can both handle it comfortably with no worry about any damage to our respective health, mental or otherwise. I mean any more than it's already been damaged. :) There's also the element of the anticipation.. the dread and fear that comes with 'knowing' Himself has something absolutely wicked and evil planned. He's got something in mind for my birthday and won't tell me what it is, just that it's evil ... and every time I think about it, my stomach hurts.

I can't wait. :)

Celeste

~ grinning at "I can't wait."

i can definitely see what you are saying. Where He & i are different is that we don't live together and because of the distance between us, don't see each other daily either. You are right - 9 years of living together, you need that fun and humor.

Definitely a matter of perspective, isn't it? If he were as intense with me on a daily basis as he currently is, i suspect i would need a padded cell.....

I just have to ask what ELSE do you call a large plastic paddle with a Pepsi logo on it but "toy?"

Implement is just so sterile.

Oh no problem. I usually DO ask lol. It's certainly NOT beyond me to say something wrong, though I try not to. I figure if you can point it out I can either clarify it - or explain it.

People also seem to often make the mistake of interpreting someone that is brutally blunt as saying something other than what they actualy literally said. People seem to get defensive and read a LOT more tones into something when someone is really blunt and isn't making it all pretty as opposed to when they dress up their words a bit more.

Thank you for rereading it and then replying.

Um. I think you misread what I actually wrote. I said judging the "words used". I said nothing about judging a person. lol

In other words - since I wasn't all that sure that I said that clearly:

Those worried that a word judges them or categorizes them seem to be the ones that view those words as being judgemental in one sense or another - rather than the other people using the words.

Ugh. Still not sure that's any better.

..

Relax already. Lighten up. Have fun. You can do that without taking your commitment to your way of life and partner lightly.

JMO, of course.

LOL... I think this was taken a little out of the way I ment it to state.. (then I never claimed to be perfect in stating things either.. LOL)

All though I do take my submission serious... you're right. There are for more other things to do think and worry about than this.

My life doesn't revolve around my submission... my submission revolves around my life. And although curious as to the terms.. scene.. play.. lifestyle.. it was morbid curiousity.. nothing more... and a little fun trying to get stired up.. nothing more..

In other words, the ones who shout the most about "NOT BEING A DOORMAT" tend to be the ones most worried that they are or will be perceived as a doormat.

michaelGA -> RE: Why is it called a scene? (2/19/2006 10:33:17 PM)

*inquiry*

if i were a doormat, would it be inappropriate for it to read "don't tread on me"?

If that is the case, then by all means please explain exactly what was judgemental to you.

Perhaps you misread what I wrote or perhaps I did not type it as clearly as I could have.

Ohhhhh i get it nowwww [:)]

And yes, what LA wrote. If a word has a particular meaning to someone, that someone will only interpret the word as such. Gotta love the art of communication and the human language.

Look what you started, true!!! If this turns into another battleground (which i don't think it will), i'm blaming you!!! :)

Actually, upon further reflection, it occurs to me that when Himself has me go fetch something, he's very specific in the instrument of torment he wants. I think that's because he once asked me to go get him a toy and I brought him a yoyo. Amazingly enough, he did find a use for it that I wasn't expecting. To divulge that use, however, would fall under the catagory of TMI. :)

I saw nothing at all judgemental in what you wrote, ShadeDiva.

Usually perceived judgment when there is none stems from insecurity.

Points for wit, but yeah, very evil "implement" if you wanted a fluffy scene. :)
