I think you understand my meaning quite clearly.

It's not ok, but it's not the same as "do as I say, not as I do".

So, Democrats can lie, cheat and steal, because they don't claim to have any morals ... and that's ok with you?
But Firm, they all lie, cheat and steal, regardless of which party they belong to, Hell we have 5 major parties and 25 some odd minor parties at the federal level and guess what....they all lie, cheat and steal. It has nothing to do with political affiliation, it has to do with being a politician.

Your declaring victory or simply abandoning the field is not beating me at anything. So far in your short time here you have yet to post anything even remotely close to accurate on any thing.

I dunno DK.

Sometimes the sheer wrong-headed obstinacy of some posters leave no other option than to leave the field, since reaching across the table to choke some sense into them isn't an option .... [:D]

Firm

And quite frequently some cons I won't name make claims they can't back up and when called on it they either simply abandon the thread or start a semantic argument based on their own idiosyncratic definition of otherwise well understood terms.

Gee, Firm, thanks for the confirmation that I'm being a pain in your... conservative, wire tapping, torture-loving, let's lie our way into two wars, and dumb down American science classrooms with creationism, while cutting taxes only for the rich... butt.

Really not a pain at all Mars.

You are actually a great negative example to hold up to show the depths of some on your "side" of the political equation. That is what I used you for, yanno.

Thank you. [:)]

Firm

Yea, I totally agree. He is the ying to wilburs yang. I guess this just proves that both sides have them.

In that case Firm, where is your denunciation of Willbeur's obvious partisan slant on this thread(not to mention his long history of such behavior)?

What partisan slant? [8D][:)]

How "long" is willbur's history, exactly?

Firm
Well let see...."corrupt Dem machine"
And as far as I'm concerned his history is waaay too long and waay too apparent.
It must be a "perception" problem that leads you not to see this.....but I will resist the urge to label you or anyone a "hypocrite" despite your silence.

Actually, that was another point I found interesting.

If someone is wealthy enough to finance their own campaign I would consider that more a case of buying their office than someone who had to seek contributions from the public for support.

I agree, the relevance of it was simply the paths that politicians in NJ generally go through, one which frequently results in corruption, and one which is less prone to it.

You havent beaten me at anything yet, youve been proven wrong in every discussion we've had. Chosing not to play by shifting the field is definitely a good face saving tactic. At least you're learning.

Your declaring victory or simply abandoning the field is not beating me at anything. So far in your short time here you have yet to post anything even remotely close to accurate on any thing.

You even once claimed to make an absurd amount of money on economic's consulting while pushing supply side theory. I was kind enough to just point out your blatant lie and not make fun of you for thinking anyone else would actually believe the drivel. I see now you weren't worth even that bit of kindness.

LMAO. You are becoming a caricature.

Children, enough.  If you can't have a discussion without these repetitive attacks back and forth you're both going away.  Please chill out before things get to that point because I'm not going to ask you again.

Hmmm, "machine politics" has a pretty long history in New Jersey. In this case in particular, made of Democrats - so yes, "corrupt Dem machine" (while you may not like it) certainly is an acceptable descriptive phrase for this particular event.

It's not a perception problem on my part, in not attacking willbur when I see him post. He tends to sometimes be short in his posts, and sometimes gets involved in the tit-for-tat, but I see him vilified for almost anything he posts, and absolutely nothing but snide and snarky remarks from some on "your side" who would rather trash his reputation and engage in ad hominen attacks rather than attempt to engage him productively.

He seems to hold up well, and I think that just enrages some even more.

As well, there is always a large posse from the left who is willing to engage and dispute anything he says, which kind of makes any comments to dispute or clarify anything he may say from "the right" like piling on. Not necessary, nor productive.

On the other hand, when people such as Mars post ... the piling on is usually in congratulation in how perceptive he is. Most of the "right" posters pretty much ignore him, on the concept that his words of hatred speak more about him than they do about Republicans he so dearly loves to hate.

Feel free to "pile on". If something I posit is disputed by reasonable people then Im more than happy to respond in more detail. WRT to less reasoned attacks I try to descend into the maelstrom of semantics only once. There is no question that on this site and every other political board Ive seen, the liberals think that facts can be arbited by majority rule, so "piling on" is de rigeur when they cant attack substance.

Oh yes, conservatives do certainly stand above the fray and take the moral high ground.

[sm=dancing.gif]

What a crock!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do I really need to go back and search through the archives here to show that you've done the same on numerous occasions?

It seems to happen equally by people on both ends of the political spectrum.  I don't believe either side is in the position to claim moral high ground on this issue.

Move it along, folks.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. There is far more corruption in the Republican Party. If the Republicans are 100% corrupt the Democrats are 50% corrupt: if you want to live like a Republican vote Democrat.

The Secret GOP Sex Diary
Scott J. Ferrell, Congressional Quarterly / Getty Images

Hot on the heels of the Sanford and Ensign scandals comes the adulterous tale of Chip Pickering. Max Blumenthal on why Republicans don’t want the former congressman’s diary released.

While former Rep. Chip Pickering of Mississippi allegedly carried on an extramarital affair with Elizabeth Creekmore Byrd, he recorded details of his exploits in a secret diary, including the dates and locations of his adulterous encounters.

Pickering, a Republican, described several assignations he had with Creekmore Byrd inside the C Street House, a Capitol Hill townhouse inhabited by an all-male group of right-wing Republican congressmen belonging to The Fellowship, an evangelical group, according to a person familiar with the diary's contents.

And according to a divorce filing by Pickering’s estranged wife, Leisha, the former congressman’s diary reveals the identities of several men who enabled his adulterous trysts and helped him cover his tracks.
According to a divorce filing, Pickering’s diary reveals the identities of several men who enabled his adulterous trysts and helped him cover his tracks.

So who were Pickering’s enablers? Are they or were they ever C Street House residents? And what role did they play, if any, in helping Pickering transform a house that hosted a “Christian men’s accountability group” into his love nest?

Thanks to heavily politicized local courts and an aggressive damage-control campaign waged by Pickering and his powerful Republican allies, the diary, which is said to contain the answers to these questions, is locked away in a courtroom in Mississippi. And if Pickering has his way, it will stay there indefinitely.

Pickering was once considered one of the GOP’s brightest stars. An ardent social conservative and defender of “traditional marriage,” he was seen as a shoo-in for former Majority Leader Trent Lott’s Senate seat when Lott retired in 2007. ……………..
