Man turns himself in in exercise ball case 
 
DULUTH, Minn. - A Duluth man wanted for allegedly breaking into a medical clinic and slashing rubber exercise balls has turned himself in.
Christopher Neil Bjerkness, 31, was arraigned Monday. He turned himself in early Saturday after calling police and was taken into custody without incident.
Bjerkness has a history of burglary to satisfy a self-professed sexual fetish for slashing large rubber exercise balls.  He is accused of breaking into the St. Mary's/Duluth Clinic West building last May, where he allegedly slashed exercise balls.
Bjerkness is charged with second and third degree burglary. Bail was set at $10,000.

Now, reflecting upon this for a while, I took an exacto knife and carved up a golf ball (having no experience in this endeavor, I chose to downscale the thrill........baby steps.  Yanno----if you don't know what you are doing, go real slow....)

It wasn't happening for me.

Anyway, whatever kink you think you got on you, it is nothing new under the sun, or anything approaching what is out there in the world.

I wonder if those balls are sold to public, I guess them being sold only to hospitals was the reason why he had to break into the medical clinic.

I think the words "rare" or "unique" are the correct ones for this case. We have to define what "normal" is.

I am thinking that they are the 55 to 70 cm or whatever balls you can get in any sports section of any store, but (like pantie sniffers) these had been used, adding to the woodie factor, if you can feature that.

This post has really got me going. Possibly the worst and most frightening fetish I have heard about was from a friend of mine who was approached at a local fet market.
The man had exactly the same hairstyle as hers and his makeup had been applied to look just like hers and his female clothes were sharply similar to the sort of things she wore. He told her that he was kind of obsessed with her looks and had been watching her for some time. He said it was his dream to look just like her. I find it important to identify the difference between Imaginitive Erotic Fantasy, Active Fetish, Kink, and Perversion.

I am Activly turned on by many things. I remember the discussion we had here about watersports. I like to watch women pee. I have no desire to follow them into a bathroom with a bag of popcorn but when I see it I find it erotic. I do not have an Active Fetish in it as I do not care to be urinated on nor do I really want to pee on someone else, however I have been temped just to find out what the sensation is all about. Then I often wonder if because my head is not in the right place if it would illicit ANY responce what so ever.

I have Many Kinks, things that I like to do and partisipate in but they do not define me and they do not make up an regular percentage of my life. In Fact most of my Kink is event specific, for instance if I have the Rigging I enjoy Suspension Bondage and Perdicament Bondage however without the propper rigging the activity holds no draw to me to seek it out, but if it is there I will do it.

I have differing opinions on many things that are TOS violations to discuss openly on the formus but it can be said that I have an attraction to some things and I consider them a Perversion however they are not acted upon nor are they fantasized about, when presented with certain activities I can address that I am arroused by the idea but not directed to apply them in the physical world.

I find that many of the things we try to define as normal or not come from the fact that so few people discuss them. The majority of the masses find anything dealing with sexuality or perversion to be things that should not openly be discussed which is also what often brings the shame factor. Growing up my parents didn't do this and so I was always very open with my sexuality and my sexual desires. It caused a few problems in the 3rd grade but I digress, Normal isn't the question.... Am I Healthy is.

There is a very wide consensus as to what is normal.
But there is a very narrow range of what is considered abnormal. And I for one am grateful as hell for all the medics, psychs, nurses/interns, prison officers and law enforcement agencies whose everyday job it is to keep the 'abnormal' safely contained, medicated and duly punished.

My new thoughts after a few hours.

I believe "normality" shouldn't be how common or usual is something, but how healthy, like SteelofUtah stated, and how they affect our lives.

Having sexual pleasure only by this rubber ball fetish is abnormal, I think, because being addicted to these balls is going to put you in danger eventually. Even if the guy wouldn't care the balls to be unused and satisfy his this need with new balls those we bought from the sports section of the shop, it would still cause troubles. Maybe his money would run out of or the shopper would get suspicious with him: "What the hell does he do with these rubber balls?" (I doubt if he could ever imagine what the guy does, eheh). His fetish led him to burglary, as seen.

Offtopic, I wonder if he had thought the rubber balls looks and feels like vaginas.

It's just a fetish. There are so many strange ones out there.

If you google "inflatables" and "Fetish" you might be surprised by how many people like to slash the rubber. I'm not sure why, but it's a quite common feature of that fetish. A mini-star of Yahoo Clubs (before they became "Groups") called "Cupcake" used post pictures of herself dressed in little girls' outfits and grinning from ear to ear as she took a butcher knife to one of those pool duckies you wear around you waist or to a giant blow-up bear. She wasn't a fetishist, she just liked to drive the fetishists mad with those images. She was quite attractive and had a big inflatables following. :D

So this guy just happens to like his rubber a bit thicker. I know lots of people who feel similarly...although not always about rubber. :)

I like all that stuff plus i have always had a thing for hospitals with catholic names (especially if they are rundown and scary)

I could see walking in to a hospital and seeing ton af shiny rubber things getting hot and bothered. I got crazy turned on in a tire store accidentally.

But breaking and entering that is unfortunate, and people laughing at him, that is unfortunate too.

Actually your wrong

There is still a very wide consensus of what is abnormal. I don't think any of us should fall into that comfort blanket of believing that a vast majority of the general public would class us anything less than persona non gratis.
In the UK we still don't have the legal ability to consent to Sado/masochistic activities and certain states in America still believe one is mentally unstable to be involved in such things. Public knowledge of what we do can and does still have devastating effects on ones vocation.
This man committed a crime because of his otherwise harmless fetish. Its not the crime the general public are interested in but the prejudice towards his abnormal kink.

It's my background in statistics, but I cannot see the word 'normal' without interpreting it thru the perspective of the normal distribution curve. In which case roughly 68% of all the data points fall within one standard deviation, 95% fall within two standard deviations, & 99.7% fall within three standard deviations. The behavior described in the OP strikes me as being somewhere between the two & three standard dev's territory, & normal is that big bulk that's within one standard dev.

Hehehehehe . . . . . . Math geek kinkster, that's me . . . . . I mostly try to stay at least a coupla dev's away from the norm, myself . . . ..
