four months ago I sent a short message to a user complementing the writing of her profile.


“If you like my profile and want to know more about me I am happy to hear from you. Your list of fetishes looks perfect to me. I like to ad that your profile displays emotional intelligence and makes more sense then most I have ever seen. XXOO”

I just now got the following answer:

“not interested in superficial bastards who picture surf.”

Please note she : “Deleted Unread”

Do any you have a policy how to deal with people who just insult others for no reason at all?

The lesson I'm learning here is never express any sort of depth - only "losers" do that.

That can be really problematic sometimes. Imagine if this sort of response is all you're getting - if you get no positive feedback, and nothing but negative bitching, eventually it starts to wear on one's mental health.

That is when it is time to actually have a look at what it is you are putting out there. But someone not reading a message and sending an insult well thats just silly

Status: offline 		(shrug) Perhaps she was right. Someone so petty as to make a big deal of this on a message board doesn't sound like anyone I'd want to get to know. Or who knows? Maybe she was going through something terrible in her life and just responding to that and not to you (I just got out of a death thread in this section, so awfulness is kind of on my mind).

I highly doubt it was all about you. So why are you making a big deal of this and causing drama on a message board about it? Leave the poor woman be. You wrote her months ago, you're probably in a very different place now, I imagine. Maybe even seeing someone?

I get insults from strangers frequently, too, and anger and other horrible surprises in email, but they follow a different pattern. Usually it's not from somone I wrote (maybe I pick good people to write or maybe I've been very lucky), but some totally random person who just happened to see my profile and decided to take their bad mood out on me. Besides insults or hate letters (I have a long profile, so that's usually what the random hater decides to hate about me, lol), I get men describing in loving, gloating detail doing to me the things that cause me the most extreme feelings of horror and self-hatred. (shrug) But it clearly ISN'T about me: neither the insults nor the horrifying sexual interests. It's just a person taking their bad mood out on others or a horny guy who had no idea I'd feel this way about his fetish.

So I'll add my voice to the chorus: let it go.

Status: offline 		I would say move on. This is the internet. Many people on CM or in general are use to getting there way- when they don't they fret over it. They have tantrums. Even go as far as taking one situation and generalizing it. This is all MANIPULATION.

The fact is...the world does not revolve around any of us. Life is too short so live.
