*delicately ignores provocations to be any more of a smart-ass than I already am -- at least for the moment* OP, one of the most useful life-skills you can acquire is the ability to not let other people's opinions get to you. A thicker skin protects you, that kinda thing . . . . . My number one tool for letting others' ignorant / malicious / whatever opinions roll off of me is a sense of humor. I find that learning to laugh at that stuff really helps to take a lot of it's power to hurt me, away . . . . . & being able to laugh at myself is an important center to my sense of humor . .. .. If I take myself way too seriously it makes it much easier for my feelings to get hurt, in my experience . . . . . . My other big tool is to educate myself thoroughly about those things I'm interested in, in part so I can spot when spouted opinions are ignorant. Then I can laugh, inside if nothing else . . . .
