Just so you know, shooting water out of your nose because you laughed really, really hard is very painful.

Ok i was still in the middle of my couch surfing days, i like to think i was an ok house guest, cooking cleaning up (occasionally) and generally trying to stay out of everyone's way. When they have another unexpected guest. So my friends have 2 extra people in there 2 bedroom apartment, making the total 5. ( The people living there were a couple and a single dude) I start looking for other digs to give my mates some piece of mind, on the day before i move out i walk into the toilet to find the other guest had OD'd on heroin.
Story ends.

Soo.. uhh.. dude. Did that free up a spot so you could stay?

yes but i didnt take it. I moved into a window box/balcony in an apartment for $40 a week :-)

married at the time. "friend" needed a place to stay as she'd left a 'stalker b/f' who went back to his wife and kids. the next house, wife told hubby she had to go (he'd just gotten a friend of the family in the family way). so i felt sorry for her, i was persuaded to let her stay for a few months. then she wanted to save up for a house deposit, so she stayed with us for over 6 months. moved my kids into 1 room, gave her 1 room. she was a cook, and supposedly carpenter. never cooked a meal, never built promised furniture or paid for food or board. walked around in cute little bikini.

very long story cut short. too much drama involved.

i'm divorced, he's remarried to her, they have a young child.

no. more. houseguests. ever. again.

ok. certain exceptions. will have to be strenuous scrutinisations and adequate flirtings in MY direction though. no flirting with cat.

also, bribery in the way of reeses cups is certainly looked upon favourably

my houseguest horror story happened last fall, between august 2008-november 2008 (Oh how I wish I could get that lost time in my life back!) so my mom gets a call from my brother Michael, he's homeless with a five year old girl in kansas, he's broke and doesn't have a vehicle. My mom calls me and asks me to let them stay with me for a while until he can find a job and get back on his feet. Now I'm 25, and live by myself in a small two bedroom apartment. I walk to and from work every day and spend my time at home quietly. I told my mom I didn't want him here, I know how he lives and I told her I couldn't afford to have them here.

So they end up staying with me, he took two months to find a job, spending the entire time laying about the house sleeping, he would cook but he rarely did dishes, never did laundry. He never got his daughter put into school despite me trying to get her started, he never gave her a bedtime, there were tiems I came home from work at 1am to find her wide awake playing in the spare bedroom while he was asleep on the couch.

He finally found a job as a dishwasher at a hotel and then more problems started. We didn't ahve a babysitter for the nights we both worked. It ended up with me begging some friends of mine to babysit her where she acted like a little monster and I was finally told she wasn't allowed back to their house. I ended up taking her to work with me several times and came close to losing my job because I couldn't find anyone to watch her.

It ended when I told him he had to get her into school before I turned him into CPS (she should have started kindergarten in sept, it was november and he still hadn't gotten the paperwork to get her enrolled) and that I needed his payment for the phone bill (almost 400.00 for his phone) one day he came to me and said he was going to another town for the weekend to get a car that one of his friends had. That was the last time I talked to him, he took his daughter and what stuff he could pack and I haven't seen him since. My mom's talked to him but he hasn't called me. Thankfully he finally called my mom, we didn't hear from him till almost january. I'm still trying to catch up on my bills that he's left behind as well as pay any new bills that come up.
