I'd like to add one or two if I may... and yes I realize this is more for the human aspect rather then 'just' the Dominant or lifestyle side.

One who not only admits but accepts responsibility for wrong decisions and wrong actions and does what one might to correct it.

One who apologizes when it is called for. (That is a personal thought of mine as I have found through the years on so many sites and boards and yes in real life functions as well that once giving themselves title of Dominant they think they no longer have to apologize for anything)

And lastly, another deeply personal one...

One who can speak to your soul, in the middle of the night from thousands of miles away. One who can reach out in thought and stroke the embers of your heart and remind you of your servitude, your beauty, and your worth.

Humbly

I'm going to go through each of the points on the list to try to answer your question.

1. They have impeccable manners, at all times. (Apart from protective moments, etc.)

I don’t think this has anything to do with being a dominant. It’s a good trait to have, but frankly not a lot of people have that (I’m thinking about road rage and dining ettiquete).

2. They make no demand to be called "Master" etc. until a collar is considered, and perhaps not even then. They certainly do not choose "MasteroftheUniverse" nicks and demand every woman address Them as such.

I don’t believe so much in nothing happens until a collar, but that’s because of my personal beliefs about collars and how I’ve seen them used, they are largely unimportant to me as a marker for when someone should do something.

3. They are kind and compassionate, answering people in trouble (even of their own making) with sound advice.

That’s again a nice trait to have which has nothing to do with being a dominant. Personally I see my owner as being very nice, but we've talked about it and I think the reason why I see him that way is because I do what he wants when he wants as he wants. If I were a very different person than that, I probably wouldn't think of him as a nice person.

4. They are financially stable, whether pauper or prince.

Again a nice trait, which has nothing to do with being a dominant and frankly the majority of American’s don’t have (sadly).

5. They never ask me for free advice.

I’m not sure what that has to do with being a dominant or even a good trait.

6. Whatever They have chosen to do for a living, They do so well and confidently.

A nice trait to have, but not remotely having much to do with being a dominant.

7. They never pressure me to agree in advance to something which exceeds my limits.

I’m teetering back and forth on that, I suppose how I’d feel about that would depend on the context.

8. In disagreeing with someone, they discuss the point of contention, and refrain from attacking the poster (even when doing so would be fun).

A nice trait again, but I don’t see posts on a mailing list as having much to do with whether someone’s a dominant or not.

9. They are never self-important; They post as Their own opinion, not The Way It Should Be.

See my response to #8.

10. They always seem to see Themselves as works in progress, open to new experiences and to learning.

A nice trait, not having anything to do with dominance, to me.

So, ma'am, what constitutes Dominance then IYO? Curious..You have a good mind.
