But would it hold up to a SC review? they have been avoiding this issue. even the experts cant seem to agree on what the term "natural born citizen" means. Some believe you have to be born on american soil. im of the belief that your parents are american... you are american... period.

Nope, not true. Dual (or even triple or more) citizenship is allowed in the US. For example, my oldest brother was born in Massachusetts and he was a Canadian citizen because his parents were and he was a US citizen, because he was born there (I  guess he was actually a "natural born" citizen, and could have been President....wouldn't that have thrown the pundits into a frenzy[:D]).
The US generally doesn't "recognize"  multiple citizenship, which means that it doesn't care what other countries consider you a citizen, it treats you as if you were a citizen of the US period, it pays no attention to the other citizenships whatsoever.

In the first month of his campaign to be senator of Illnois, a high majority of people already wanted Obama to become the next president. And that was just after the media talked about him a few times. The rich and the media gave Obama the spot light over night. A new face with a good smile was all it took. Nobody cared where Obama was born or who is parents where.

All this citizenship bull shit is a conspericy that can be used to make money in books, movies, and shows in the future. It also pulls in ratings. This over inflated topic is just covering up all the bills and topics that the politicians don't want the US citizens to think about.

wait.. ok... I don't watch TV (dont have it here at the house), and I read a local paper. 


Obama was born in HAwaii, right? and Hawaii IS a state, right? and has been WAY longer than Obama has been alive?  Or am I wrong on Hawaii's statehood status?

Please, someone help me out here...

Well. . . yes. . . kind of.

Hawaii became a state 8-21-59
Obama was born         8-04-61

So actually less than 2 years. . . not really WAY longer.

The rough outline of the story is that Obama's father took his pregnant wife to meet his family in Kenya, and that Barack was actually born there, and then brought back into the U.S. as a newborn.  

What strikes me very funny is that Sarah Palin was attacked for making exactly the same sort of late pregnancy trip that President Obama's mother reportedly made.

I don't know what Lou Dobbs' objectives are, and frankly I don't get too caught up in conspiracy theories until some validity may arrise. In this case I see nothing at this point worth devoting a great deal of time to this topic.

I would like to advance a possible reason though, just food for thought.

Obama is never going to win over the Right, he made comments out of the gate that pretty much shot him in the foot there and gave the Right all the ammo they need to justify their rhetorical talking points. But at the moment he doesn't need them for legislation. However....

As of late the centrists or blue dogs have been wavering, and mostly due to Obama's waining political clought with the centrist public, states like Ohio, Florida, places where the vote can change directions in a blink of an eye. You know the election deciders and states that actually afford one party or another political superiority on the hill.

So if it looks like someone is unjustly attacking the rock star personally, and his national personal approval rating is his last remaining vestage of political strength, so it could really move those undecided and wavering voters back into his corner for the support he needs if they felt he was being faced with frivolous harrassment.

And yes the political world is this devious and calculating.

But I ain't saying this is what's happening, I'm just saying.

Still, if you're in the right frame of mind, you can revel in the spectacle of some Republican gatheirng where a nutcase gets up, their back to the camera, and souts some of the most ridiculous tinfoil-hat crap...  And then watch the GOP members desperately be non-comittal about the obvious insaninty of a sizable fraction of their base.

It's reality TV at it's farcical best!

Yes Hawaii is and was a state when he was born, however many are saying that he was not actually born in Hawaii, but in Kenya instead. Granted still makes him a US citizen being born by his mother, a citizen of the US....right or wrong, but I think what is more the issue to or from most is the fact that Obama refuses to make his records, not only his birth records but college records and many more, public. I do not recall any president refusing to do so as he has (perhaps there were, but I do not recall any). Instead he, or his party, have spent a vast amount of money fighting it to keep all his records sealed. Makes people wonder as to why.

It DOES matter where he was born because it is in the U.S. Constitution that one of the requirements to be President is that the person has to have been BORN in the U.S. Everyone in this discussion has been focused on CITIZENSHIP--but THAT is not the issue here. The issue is NOT about CITIZENSHIP (as everyone here is focused on) but PLACE OF BIRTH as a CONSTITUTIONAL requirement. If yuo 'google search' the U.S. Constitution you will read it where it states the requirements to be President, and they include that the place of birth must be within the U.S. Thus, if a person were not born in the USA they are ineligible to be President/Commander in Chief, and their acts in office would be illegal and without authority.
Again, this has NOTHING to do with CITIZENSHIP. This topic came up years ago when Senator Lowell WEicker of Connecticut was going to run for President but they found that he had been born in Paris, France of Amerian parents. Thus he ws a US citizen, but could not become President .
And, more recently after Arnold Schwarzenegger won election as Governor of California, many (at the time, but no longer) tried to promote that he would make a great President; but then they were informed that he was ineligible since he was not born in the USA but in Austria.
So, the US Constitution says that it DOES matter where a person was born if they are to be a legitimate President.

Now it is time for you to do some searching online...McCain is not a natural born citizen where Obama is.. McCain went to congress before he ran and was assured there would be no conflict with the Constitution... If it was good enough for McCain then... if need be applied... it is good enough for Obama.

The Constitution, as a living document, may be interrupted in a number of ways. Although there has been no Supreme Court ruling on citizens born out of country or on military bases the consensus is that they would be included as “Natural Born”.
