Ms. Dunham never became a naturalized citizen of any nation. She never met the residency requirements in Indonesia and never went through the process.

So the fact is President Obama's mother never held non US citizenship and therefore never became eligible to lose US citizenship.

no clue and dont really care. Just correcting Arpig's errors, yet again.

CNN, the democratic controlled state media is responsible for once again dredging this up.

Huh?

This has been never-ending on Fox since the campaign.

My dad watches fox all the time and no this has not been never ending there. In fact I can't remember the last time it was mentioned.

Then you haven't been paying attention.  Hannity had a segment on it just a couple days ago.  I couldn't find a link to that, but here are some examples from last month regarding the Major who refused to report.

News Hounds: Fox News Legitimizes Birthers

Perhaps desperate for new ways to undermine Barack Obama’s presidency, Fox News has joined forces with the “birthers,” the fringe who irrationally claim that Obama’s presidency is illegitimate because he was not born in the U.S.

As Think Progress has reported, Obama’s Hawaii birth certificate is widely available on the internet. FactCheck.org has also extensively researched the subject. Their conclusion: Born in the U.S.A. But Fox News has started reporting on birthers without noting the baselessness of their claims, and in ways that lend legitimacy to their efforts.

With video. During Special Report’s Political Grapevine segment tonight (7/14/09), Bret Baier announced (at about 40 seconds into the first video below), “A U.S. soldier who has been ordered to Afghanistan is refusing to go… (saying) President Obama was not born in the United States and therefore is ineligible to be Commander-in-Chief.

A Columbus, Georgia newspaper reports (the soldier) has filed a request in federal court seeking a temporary restraining order on his deployment. (His) attorney is involved in a second case that challenges the legitimacy of the Obama presidency. The Los Angeles Times reports a California judge has agreed to hear the merits of that case.” As a banner on the screen read, “PERSISTENT PROBLEM” next to a photo of Obama and the U.S. Supreme Court, Baier added, “It is just one of dozens of legal challenges to the president’s nationality.”

But rather than inform his viewers that those “challenges” have been thoroughly debunked, Baier presented the issue as a he said/she said, adding, “At least two of them have already been dismissed by the Supreme Court. The White House press secretary again Monday brushed aside the matter, saying, quote, ‘The noble truth is that the president was born in Hawaii, a state of the United States of America.’” Baier never pointed out that Obama's American birth certificate has been produced and authenticated.

Sean Hannity presented the same story during his Hannity’s America segment. He likewise failed to note in any way the illegitimacy of the claim, or the availability of Obama's birth certificate. Instead, Hannity characterized the case as “controversial."

..................But the most egregious example is on Fox’s “fair and balanced” website, Fox Nation. There a headline a reads, “Obama Birth Certificate Challenge Wins Small Court Victory,” once again implying that the claim may have at least some merit. Even worse, above the headline is a large photo of Obama in a turban.

In all honesty, Brain, do you think that the Supreme Court would invalidate his presidency at this point?

Probably me.

I've become addicted to it.

It's the funniest thing I've ever seen.

It just amazes me that some people take it seriously.

I was replying to someone who said she couldn't remember the last time Fox mentioned it.

Brain -> RE: Who Cares Where He was Born!!!! (8/3/2009 6:49:15 PM)

How about Keith Keith Olbermann, it was on the Countdown but I don't know if anybody put it on YouTube. MSNBC probably took it down for copyright violation

You're one to talk about rights after the Republicans took away so many rights with the patriot act. What hypocrisy

And I suppose you have another link to some drug-addled, burned-out, stand-up comedian enumerating what those rights were that Bush stole?

Be very careful who you go calling a hypocrite, Brian.

I read the original comment to not mean "mentioning it" as in reporting on Lou Dobbs, but as in "putting it forth as a possibility". You apparently read it differently

It DOES matter where he was born because it is in the U.S. Constitution that one of the requirements to be President is that the person has to have been BORN in the U.S. Everyone in this discussion has been focused on CITIZENSHIP--but THAT is not the issue here. The issue is NOT about CITIZENSHIP (as everyone here is focused on) but PLACE OF BIRTH as a CONSTITUTIONAL requirement. If yuo 'google search' the U.S. Constitution you will read it where it states the requirements to be President, and they include that the place of birth must be within the U.S. Thus, if a person were not born in the USA they are ineligible to be President/Commander in Chief, and their acts in office would be illegal and without authority.
Again, this has NOTHING to do with CITIZENSHIP. This topic came up years ago when Senator Lowell WEicker of Connecticut was going to run for President but they found that he had been born in Paris, France of Amerian parents. Thus he ws a US citizen, but could not become President .
And, more recently after Arnold Schwarzenegger won election as Governor of California, many (at the time, but no longer) tried to promote that he would make a great President; but then they were informed that he was ineligible since he was not born in the USA but in Austria.
So, the US Constitution says that it DOES matter where a person was born if they are to be a legitimate President.

Good thing Obama was born in Hawaii, then.

Actually I made no error. I simply stated what the current conditions were. I made no reference to what they might have been in the past. I was responding to a post that stated that the US does not allow dual citizenship, and it does.

Actually the Constitution says no such thing. It says they must be "natural born" citizens, without defining what that constitutes. To date the Supreme Court of the US has not made a definitive ruling either,so it is at present unclear just what constitutes a "natural born" citizen.
Obama was born in the state of Hawaii, so is by all definitions of the term a "natural born" citizen, regardless of the citizenship status of his parents. McCain, however, was born in the Panama Canal Zone, and because of the unique legal status of the Canal Zone may, under some interpretations, not be a "natural born" citizen.
