angel you mean the Masquarade (Kindred: The Embraced) series...that is based on the World of Darkness roleplaying setting but the series was brilliant The name depends on the country you are in.

The Problem with Kindred: The Embrased is that only 7 episodes were aired if you by the Season One Box set you at least get to see what happened. It was a GREAT series but it was up against TGIF back in the Mid 90's.

It was based on the Character Definitions of the White Wolf Game Vampire the Masquerade but only a handful of the clans were ever mentioned.

Damn there was a really cool one when i was a kid i can't remember the name but there was the head Vamp called Julian and there were like two families one bad and one good.

Kindred the Embraced.  Horrid attempt at bringing White Wolf's Vampire: the Masquerade to television.  Crappy scripting, worse special effects, and absolutely nothing like the game.  If they'd stuck to White Wolf cannon, the show would probably still be running; the game was that well written.

I've heard good things about the Sookie Stackhouse novels and their adaptation as TrueBlood, but my favorite vampire series is Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake books.  If you're into romance novels, Maggie Shayne writes the "XYZ" Twilight books (ex. Edge of Twilight, Embraced by Twilight), not to be confused with Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga.

The Hunger, which is a vampire movie starring Catherine Deneuve, Susan Sarandon, and...... David Bowie. Not a series, but pretty good, if memory serves.

Im thinking it was the Kindred? that was good too, but cancelled before its time?

Yup. The guy who played Julian died in an accident. Fox decided not to continue the series. However, you can always pull out the D 10 dice and continue your own series.

Forever Knight was my most favoriable. I've always wanted to go on the radio and spark up devils advocate controversy much like "The Night Crawler." I even liked the last episode. I was captivated by that dramatic ending.

I also liked reading Ann Rice.

Although I'm enjoying the True Blood series and have read most of the Sookie Stackhouse Series, I've yet to be a big fan of vampires being known by the entire world. They would have to register themselves, re structure a justice system, and lay out a whole slew of new laws. True Blood does not have any of the Vampire Sherieffs working with Law Enforcement to solve crimes nor do you see trials where humans and vampires both make up a jury. The whole series revolves around a "We take care of our own" stand point.

I didnt like Twilight, dunno why

For me, I find the series to vanilla and teenage made.

When I was in High School, I watched Dracula and Dusk 'till Dawn. I was 9 when I watched Lost Boys. Twilight is missing a few things of what I think of vampires. I will give the author some credit for changing the sun light rule. They don't burst into flames or begin to break down, the vampires just glow as if sprinkled with fairy dust glitter. I don't like it, but I do thinks it's original in the explaination of why vamps perfer the dark and cloudy.

Books: The Anita Blake Series
TV Show: True Blood

Those are the ones that I have enjoyed the most so far.

LA Banks has a series of books "Vampire Huntress" starting with 'Minion' and so far going on 12 books. They are fantastic and utterly different from all the others.

There is a lot of good sex (yum) along with some creative world religion entwined with history topped off with the central character being a young black girl who is a spoken word artist (a sort of rap/chant hip/hop).

She has another series out with I think 3 books so far that is absolutely awful though! Total dreck, very disappointing. But "Vampire Huntress" series is way cool!

I'm also a fan of JR Wards 'Black Dagger Brotherhood' and am irritated as hell over her last book being in hardcover when the others have all been mass market paperbacks grrr.

Of course there were books. They're called Marvel Comics. That's where "Blade" originated.

There's a comic book series. Trust me.

Other than that, I liked reading the comic series on the vampire Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It has an interesting as well as surprising history of him that the TV series never spoke of.

FangsNfeet -> RE: What has been the best vampire series to watch on t.v. or read (8/3/2009 9:29:28 PM)

The sex scenes of Bill and Sookie in True Blood aren't even a forth of kink on what the do in book series. On the show, the two are either boring or gross. The string music that plays as they're about to get it on dosen't do it for me. I already decided that I'm never having sex with anyone who just popped out naked from the ground covered in dirt. And if you're going to bite me, be curtious enough to drink the blood. Not only did they ruin the white sheets, Bill kisses Sookie with a mouth full of her blood. That sounds like the vampires equivilent to a Snow Ball.

I feel sorry for the Fellowship of The Sun. If who I considered to be my prized warrior mentioned in a meeting "My sister is dateing a vampire. He seems like a nice guy except for the biting. But I think she likes it." I would be inclined to ask more about him, his sister, and the vampire. With the show being altered from the the book, I thought the church was smart enough to have done there own investigation to automaticly know who Sookie was. What a bunch of idiots.

I'm still diggin the series though. It's ashame that the second season is only another 12 episodes. Season three will most likely be another twelve and not show untill next summer.  Anyways, book 8 just arived at my house today. I'll be getting 9 sooner or later.

I've been following that as well. Angel: After the Fall (which has Spike in it) has gotten rather interesting as well. So has Buffy for that matter.

You're going to talk all that anime but not mention "Vampire Hunter D" nor the "Alucard" series?

I think it's cool that Blood The Last Vampire is going to be a live movie. I can't wait to see it.

Most Japenese vampires are way different than what Europe and America is accustomed to. We wouldn't recognize most of the Japanese Vampire versions as a vampire but as some other type of immortal creature that feeds off of energy.

However, Alucard brings back our traditional vampire Dracula in todays society working with a Van Hausen decendent. Aswome series and well drawn.

Another comic series that I liked was when Batman became a vampire.
