Anthrosub, it's just the way the Internet is.  With a handful of exceptions (that would be a handful out of well over a thousand contacts), the submissive men I've encountered here are a complete waste of time, to the point where I no longer have any interest in looking for someone, and am now only here to keep in touch with friends.  You can either keep slogging through the morass, try a different site, or stay home with a good book and a bottle of wine.  You're not going to change the people who post profiles, so all you can do is change your reaction.  I did, and I'm a lot happier for it.

pyroaquatic -> RE: Collarme Profiles and Messages (8/6/2009 9:52:23 PM)

Venatrix I hope I am not a complete waste of time.

But yes, I have a tiny bit of hope left that I will find someone. I do enjoy the minds here and try not to focus on finding anyone. I come here to learn.....

nothing beats firsthand experience though.

Nah.  Even if you did get my bum mixed up with someone else's.

(Which, by a very odd coincidence, is what most people use this site for!)

I thought it was a place of mutilated english, cockshots, and wankers.

Oh can't forget the spam-artists, and the pay to play financia dominas.

Everyone's booty is starting to merge together.

This site *can* work, though the stars have to be in alignment.

And there is also "sugardaddie.com"...[:D]

Threadjacking, but...

speaking of mutilated English, pyro, your Housman quote is missing a piece.  The first two lines of that poem are, "Good creatures do you love your lives / And have you ears for sense?"

It was one of my faves, back 2 million years ago when I was about your age.

I equally find the Domme Women a complete waste of time.  Well most of them anyway. Apart from a couple of notable exceptions, many of them are Fantasists but then again many of the men are the Fantasists too

Blocking certain IP addresses in Africa would clear out about 90% of the scams.

But it would reduce "page view" percentages as well.

You say this like its a bad idea Firm.  LOL

That was exactly my point:  it's the Internet.  It's up to each individual to decide how much time he or she wants to spend using it as a tool to meet someone, if, indeed, that is what the person wants, because it is going to require a lot of time to find someone who isn't a time waster.  I'm a lot less annoyed with men now that my contact with them is limited to only those I like.  E-mail from men I don't already know gets deleted unread.  Cuts the wanker factor down to nil.

There really IS a site called sugardaddie.com!  WOW!

lobodomslavery -> RE: Collarme Profiles and Messages (8/7/2009 2:57:45 PM)

I m beginning to prefer real time. I dont spend my Saturday nights in anymore. Going to a real munch to meet real people tomorrow.

anthrosub -> RE: Collarme Profiles and Messages (8/7/2009 7:03:15 PM)

So the short answer based on what most are saying is, "As far as meeting a partner interested in this lifestyle is concerned...the Internet...for the most part...is a complete and utter failure."

I agree and fully understand this so don't get me wrong. I think it just bothers me that this amazing resource that could offer so much potential for finding a partner has been completely hobbled by a bunch of morons.

Oh, and the guy with the blue edits has a good sense of humor. Keep up the good work!

n0c0sm0s -> RE: Collarme Profiles and Messages (8/7/2009 11:47:47 PM)

I don't concern myself with how 'real' any profile is here.  My pics and profile are real enough although I have been lazy in adding the content.  I spend most of my time here reading the boards, not looking at profiles.  I suppose I have it easy in that I live in Vegas and I've found play friends without even looking.  In fact, it's those friends that turned me on to collarme in the first place lol.  Yes, I get the spam too but as others have posted - this is the internet, whaddaya expect?!?

Well that's what I love about a free site, you pretty much have two choices: one can stay or one can go, but it is what it is.
Free.  But I'm still uncertain if it's non-profit or not.  If it isn't, people are still customers on here, they just have a different revenue stream.

n0c0sm0s -> RE: Collarme Profiles and Messages (8/7/2009 11:56:29 PM)

I haven't noticed a revenue stream for this site at all (ads maybe?).  It's not nearly locked down as say AFF.  I haven't noticed any restrictions in that regard anyway.

myself1168 -> RE: Collarme Profiles and Messages (8/8/2009 12:02:18 AM)

I think the trend you're seeing is accurate. While the sites themselves do little to prevent the scam/spammers. Its just about being smart, but I do understand the frustration of having to wade through fake profiles. Spending the time to find a real post, and having your email glanced at with wary eyes because of all of the simpleton posers just looking to get their rocks off.

VanIsleKnight -> RE: Collarme Profiles and Messages (8/8/2009 3:22:45 AM)

This kind of disappoints me.  Well, no, it really disappoints me.  I live in a city where BDSM isn't really a big thing (Victoria, BC) and hadn't the foggiest idea on how to approach finding a Mistress.  I feel sort of silly now for worrying about how much detail I should have in my profile and if I had to trim back, or if there wasn't enough.

Sad day...

Your post demonstrates what I'm getting at. If this were a site discussing bird watching, does anyone think there would be all this BS and fake profiles? For those like the above quote the Internet is a bit more important. Whoever is responsible for Collarme surely didn't intend it to end up this way. I don't think you could say the same thing about Alt as that site is clearly all about money. I can't say about Bondage as I never joined it.

One thing that does seem to work here and on other locations is these message boards and email groups. The average player simply won't put the effort into spending a lot of time writing...probably doesn't have the intellect for it anyway. So one might try spending time on the boards and if someone is attracted to you via your posts, they can check out your profile.

Beyond that it seems only sites with exclusive members could work but unfortunately the members there are usually already partnered (like ClubFem).

And journals.  Although, I have to say that I met some decent people before I started posting much on the forums.  But yeah, the forums help a lot, obviously.  I do also think it's the case that male submissives are probably the one group that may actually have cause for complaining about a numerical imbalance.  On the other hand, at least going what domme friends have said to me, that's evened out a bit by the fact a sizeable number of males subs on here really aren't people you should consider 'competition'.  Based on your literacy alone.

Another possibility is OkCupid  While it's a 'nilla site, it's easily the most BDSM friendly of the mainstream dating sites.
