ORIGINAL: marie2 Two different frames of mind, I think. I've ventured into the chats here two or three times, and I find it boring. For the most part, the participants are actually very friendly and welcoming, but I think in general they are more into just kicking back and joking around...It's all "fluff". There's just no substance there. Whereas on the message boards, people are more into discussing topics of a serious nature. It's two different animals, therefore each is going to draw a different kind of crowd. I fully agree with marie2. The ability to peruse archived debates and passionate, well articulated exchanges (or be a part of them) is much more fun and informative than what internet chat's long-toothed and flat-line stream of consciousness produces. It's a big anonymous waste of time, in my book. I prefer to sit back and speak casually in real time with people you can see, hear and touch. Life's too short to be "hanging out" on the internet as well.
