No one complained when everything was renamed Reagan.... Oh Lord, Tim, don't get me started on National Airport! I'll be dyspeptic for days. Suffice it to say that folks in these parts were not, to put it mildly, overly enthusiastic about the name change--which, if memory serves, was foisted on us by yahoos in Congress. Locals rather liked the airport's honoring a local guy, namely Washington. I actually used to cross out "Reagan" on boarding passes and write in "National"! (I stopped that with the security crackdowns and general humorlessness that descended on air travel after 9/11.) I do find it darkly amusing that the Ronald Reagan building (which contains a ballroom!) is a monument to everything the Gipper spent his political career fighting against.
