If you want to be pedantic, a few criminals have guns, that wasnt what you asked me though, was it.

The point remains we have a very low murder rate, by guns or otherwise, you dont.

Perhaps. But lets ask those 'few' victims Britain has if they feel the bans are working. Oh wait, we can't. They're dead. And the cops? They got there in time to clean up the mess.

That's how it happens. When SECONDS count, cops are MINUTES away. Good luck thwarting a firearm-wielding intruder with a baseball bat.

I have to laugh, now you use capitals to try and prove a point, probably because you cant use facts. It is rare for a civillian not involved in street gangs, to be shot dead. Its fairly rare for gang members to be shot dead. There is a higher chance of me being struck by lightning, if you still dont believe me, do some research.

Actually that would depend on where you live. At my friends house it is rare that you don't hear gunshots at night, and it's rare that those guns are legally obtained.

No it doesn`t, Loki was talking specifically about gun crime in the UK, which is why I gave the answer i did.

Why are Americans arguing with Brits, Brit ex pats, and Canadians about gun control? The Brits live in arguably the biggest Nanny state of the "free world", the ex pat lurved GB so much, she moved to America, and does anyone really care about the opinions of Canadians...Really?

Perhaps. But as I live in the real world, dreams don't usually matter to a guy who just wants to steal your stuff whether you're home or not.

Pure bollocks, because the elusive bastard you are talking about may well steal my own gun to shoot me with it. I have lived in the real world, far away from here, where guns are harder to get hold of, and where it's not nearly as easy to carry out mass murders and all that kind of shit.

A chacun sa merde  .

I think you need to re-read what he said. He said you're in the biggest 'nanny state' *in* the free world.

Didn't you comprehend what I wrote? Did I fail to use too many vowels or something?

Let me speak clearly for you, England has the largest nanny government in the free world.

Sorry to have to tell you this, but you have some Brits living among you  .

You put free world in invertd commas implying that Britian was the biggest nanny state in a world that wasn't free t all. By inference you were saying that britian was the least free state in the ''free world.'' It's your use of grammar rob that indicated what you were saying not your lack of vowels.

He would if you didn't get to it and blow his ass away first. That's kinda the point. If you're such a heavy sleeper that you don't hear him breaking in...then yeah, he may get to it and steal that too. If you're not, and you blow his ass away, makes it hard for him to steal your gun. Also, if you practiced RESPONSIBLE gun ownership, you'd have it locked in a safe that he couldn't open, nor move without serious help. They make safes that way over a ton now and use biometric locks. If you leave it 'under your pillow', then yeah it may get stolen. Same as if you leave it out with a kid around the little idiot may blow his own face off. If, however, you excercise responsible ownership, you can prevent that from happening.

Actually, he used quotation marks (inverted commas, WTF?)

Quotation marks being around "free world" imply that it's simply a term that was coined, and not what we actually call it. Everyone knows that both the U.S. *and* Britain are part of the "free world." To suggest he implied something else is ridiculous.

Man, you're from Britain and you have that much trouble with english? Wow.

And yet you still point to rates.

I think we've all made it abundantly clear that in our minds ANY murder with a gun under a gun 'ban' is unacceptable. You seem to be okay with only criminals having the guns, so long as it's not a large number. If you're going to take MY gun, you'd better be able to damn well guarantee that *NO* criminal will be able to get one. As you cannot make that assurance, you will not take away my LEGAL right as a law-abiding citizen to own a gun.

Sorry, but *yawn*. I have heard all the arguments many, many times before.

I have lived on both sides of the equation. Perhaps you haven't?

In any event, I will argue against the wide availability of firearms until I die, just as I argue against the death penalty. These beliefs are part of my core beliefs: nothing you can say will sway them.

Go and shoot, if it makes you happy. I think it's quite sad  .

No Loki I am from Britian and have a very firm grasp of English. Using grammar in this sense usually denotes that the author considers the phrase to not be what it si described. Here it seemed reasonable to indicate that picking out the term free world was to show that he did not consider it free at all. Not that he was simply acknowledging that he did not come up with the phrase which would seem to be self explanatory which is why I asked the question. Speaking to me like a child does not make your points any better it makes you seem foolish Loki.
