It doesnt 'mean' anything really, but the implication of higher 'worth' does grate a bit, but I am a hypocrite some I don't really mind some wind me up.

I've posted on these type threads before. I would prefer a man who can speak/type to me like a human being first. That 'subby typing' grates on my nerves. However, my long term, long distance boy - Wall-e, uses it to differentiate between when he is speaking to me as a friend and when he's being submissive.

It sure changes the experience of the message - especially when it is a long message and even worse when it lacks proper interpunction and paragraphs. It may cause the post to not be read.

For me, the slash-speak gets in the way of the natural flow of conversation; for me, that’s a bit over the top. Having said that, I rather enjoy the capping thang; I see it as a way to show, literally (pun intended) that, even when apart and writing to another…the whole dynamic of WIITWD is a part of what I enjoy and where my head is while I’m writing. Still, I do not ever refer to myself in third person, nor can I bring myself not to cap ‘I’…again, that’s a bit over the top (for me) and I feel it gets in the way of typing (not to mention reading!).

I suppose I liken this way of corresponding to some of the other ‘rules’ the Dominant one might conjure up. I know one who does not allow his slave to sit while peeing. Yup, she must squat over the toilet; seat up and not touching the bowl. Why; because it reiterates his control of her even when she is not around him and keeps her head in the space where they both enjoy it.

That’s sort of how I see the ‘caps’ thing, too. It’s a way to keep the headspace. YMMV

Actually, I prefer a good glass of white, served by a boy who knows how to properly open a bottle. You can't get that kind of ambiance from a beer.

Learning the "proper" way to serve wine is very easy.....become a waiter. The bonus is you got paid to learn something.

Boston Lager? Hideous stuff.

The question that comes to mind is; since you drink wine, do you REALLY know what Boston Lager tastes like?

I often refer to LadyLanun as Mistress, with a capital M, but mostly as a way of emphasising that I'm referring to my own specific mistress and not mistresses in general. Other than that, neither of us is in the habit of inserting or omitting capitals in places that an English teacher wouldn't approve of. However, I certainly don't have a problem with people who use different conventions, although slashy speak can be a bit hard to read.

With that said, Mistress does sometimes like to capitalise on my weaknesses.

As someone who likes to mess about I used to cap those I liked and not those I didnt, now I cap all screen names because that is grammatically correct.

i very often think in written form. This includes the ungrammatically correct lowercase and uppercase words seen in my posts. Some people have an internal voice, i often have Helvetica. It's not intended to display some sense of inferiority and i find this idea interesting.
If Someone told me directly that it truly interfered with understanding my posts--more so than say, misspellings or run-on sentences, i'd pay attention and perhaps change it. Since no one has, kindly suck on it.

I used to find the capitals a barrier to feeling connected with certain dommes who did it. Then I came across one or two who were evidently very good at connecting despite being keen fans of those capitalised Mes and Mys. It'd make no difference to me if they weren't used, but I do now see why some prefer them.

It actually took me ages to register that people were spelling 'peon' or my real first name with a lower case first letter. I just find it cute now.

Eh, there are a lot of little things that help people feel a dom or sub mindset. I don't care for the capitalizing of Me and Mine etc mostly because when I'm reading it, for a split second it trips me into thinking a new sentence has begun.
