It's worth thinking about how the skin stretching can alter the look of a tattoo.  Like the word "dick" tattooed on my cock changes when it gets erect to become "delightfully long, strong, somewhat veiny and blood-engorged; throbbing, pulsating and heaving member that is, moreover, woman-pleasingly thick".

Its amazing what they can achieve with nanotechnology and an electron microscope these days. :)

Indeed, but you'd still need a magnifying glass to read the text.

I'd be probably be banned if I let images of my scars/brands/marks out into the WWW. I have them everywhere, including my face and I often orgasm looking at them in the mirror.

I was wondering, do Dommes ever get themselves tattooed with their subs' names?  Say, on their backsides or the soles of their feet?  Could be an interesting variation.

Well my man has my name across his backside and I have his over mine! We didn't do it because we are BDSM'ers but because we just wanted to.
We also have joint brands of S & M. They are hot brand scarification and will be on our skin forever. We didn't do it as ownership but because we both like scarification marks.

While all that is fun when you're young and adventuresome - ie stupid - it sucks when you grow up and try to get a job in the 'real' world and find out no one will give you a white collar job when you have "SLUT" tattooed on your throat. (Yes.  I've seen that one.  As well as "Playa" and "Gangsta")

To say nothing of when the tattoo of the really hot female on your upper arm starts sagging along with you.

My gran had her last tat done when she was in her 60s and she never stopped loving them even if she did get saggy skin.

Well done for not skirting around my question, Allthatjazz.  One could be forgiven for believing that femdoms don't want to talk about tattoos on themselves because, perhaps, they don't want to admit that they're namby-pambies and are scared of the pain.

Firstly, I am from the UK and my step brother is a tattoo artist, when I had a cover up he showed me many places that would remove it for the same cost, and yeah scars are what is left, but personally I wouldn't have laser removal anyways.

So if someone is owned for a short period of time, say a year does that mean that the fact that it ended meant they were never owned?

I see tattoos as reminders of important things in my life, if a relationship is important enough to inspire a tattoo it ending wont remove the impact it had on me or the lessons I learned. (I know what you are thinking, why did I have a cover up, it was a 'no regrets' tattoo meant to last five years which faded to a nasty gray colour and bled into the skin so it needed covering with what is essentially a larger version of the same idea)

Throughout life we receive emotional scars, they may be good or bad but things in our mind that are constantly there and tattoos to me are simply a physical representation off that. So I think to get to the stage that you do want to permentantly mark your skin is a pretty special thing.

I agree that a mark of owenrship is special, and getting it removed wont ever take away what you once had. However, I can envisgae explaining to someone why you have another womans initial on your arse can be a tad awkward.

Personally speaking I wont get mine removed unless any future girlfriend/Mistress insisted on it. Having it removed wont take away any memories, mine stays as its hassle to have it covered. Although finding someone with the same initial could be a bonus [8D]

I find tattoos hideous, to the point where it would likely be a deal breaker if someone had more than a very small one, and in a very discreet place.  If he were willing to get his tattoos removed, that would be fine.  If not, oh well.  I'd certainly not want my lovely lily-white skin marked up, either.

PeonForHer -> RE: Marks of Ownership (8/10/2009 11:30:08 AM)

I think you'd better just stick with your current one, V - that large "Death or Glory" on your back.

I've been trying for years to think of a tattoo design that I know I'd like for ever but have never come up with one.  Mind you, I find bar codes intriguing.  So long as the bar code does actually mean something.

Wait till you go for a CT scan and they find out that you're half off.

That made me giggle out loud.

Actually Peon I like barcodes too, and the idea of having a date or whatever as the numbers seems a pretty nice link to the idea of it being a 'branding' or mark

I may have my faults, but nobody could accuse me of not being cheap. [;)]

PeonForHer -> RE: Marks of Ownership (8/10/2009 11:47:29 AM)

Some kind of femdom/malesub symbol would be OK for me.  Small and very tasteful.  I don't know what I'd want that design to look like, though.  Before anyone suggests it - no, I don't want one of those absurd symbols with lots of legs sticking out of it.

Its worth time and thought. I think its a shame when someone walks into a tat shop and flicks through a magazine to choose something. Better you have an idea and get an artist to draw something up for you.
I had a sub that had the most amazing tattoos that told an abstract story of his life. They were not ott but so cleverly done with amazing detail. It was those very tattoos that first drew me to him. The explanation of what they meant showed me an inner depth that I found to be not only a fascinating insight into him as a person but an almost instant attraction.
Good tats are like a piece of art on a beautiful canvas. I have to add that art is never tainted by age and whilst some who view it will appreciate it, others will discard it and ridicule it.
Each to there own and all that. If you worry about what people think then don't have tats. If you don't give a darn then do what ever makes you happy.

You said it beautifully here, I agree that it is art, and also how something that becomes so intrinsically part of you is natural to age, that doesnt stop it meaning what it did, or as you say being a piece of art.

Yup it does, but then to steal allthajazz's quote "beautiful canvas" :P
