I think the sun works really good, I often wonder why someone would pay for what the sun does for free?

The latest result is that BOTH methods have Risks to take into account, but at least in the sun you will be getting Vitamin B which is a Natural Stress Reliever.

You could always get one Painted on?

Go for the Extra Crispy, I wanna eat your Chicken Wings.

Steel
get the hell away from my wings, you perv!!

Steel...the reason i do the tanning bed is i can control the exposure...whereas sometimes out doors i cannot. If i tan in a booth there is almost zero chance of burning outside. And it seems no matter how much sunscreen i use i still burn. Most women perspire...i sweat. Sunscreen does not cut it for me.

And the effects of tanning beds on the brain (secondary to the endorphin release) is not comparable to the same amount of normal sunlight exposure

SweetNika -> RE: Tanning salon (8/11/2009 11:50:08 AM)

To those that tan at tanning beds, is the orange skin typical or not? lol

I am not interested in making myself look older, and cancer is something I would like to avoid if possible, so no tanning for me.

Same for me.

I have very light skin and in the natural light I do need a proper sunburn to be able to get a tan. Therefore I live with the theme: "Better light and healthy then tanned and ill (in the cases where it goes wrong)."

I have no interest to make myself older, neither with tanning nor with make-up or alcohol consumption...My skin is just pretty much left on it's own most of the time...[:)]

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Tanning salon (8/11/2009 11:51:04 AM)

No. I wouldn't, to me being tanned  and worrying about looking tanned is just pure  vanity and a waste of money I can live with out, Plus I enjoy being creamy pale.

I'm thinking about joining a "Tanning Salon" and was wondering if you'd like to share good or not so good stories about your experiences.

Would you join one?

seems i am the idiot of the group.

I have very fair skin and go to a tanning bed to prevent burning in the sun. Also...the effect it has on my mood is amazing.

[sm=wave.gif]   Make that 2 of us..... I love using the tanning beds, they remarkable, soothing things to my mind and relax me like you wouldn't believe. AND it's the worlds best hangover cure!

i guess i make another idiot.  Although i do not currently have a tanning membership, i regularly went to tan for several years, especially in the winter.

When i go outside i do not use sunscreen, nor do i try to coverup.  i control my exposure time in the sun and in the tanning bed so i don't burn.  i always use eye protection.

Skin exposed to the UV B in sunlight and tanning beds produces vitamin D in skin, which helps in absorbing calcium to prevent osteoporosis.

i am with Holly on how my mood is elevated.  It really helped me with depression.

In addition, the deep penetrating action of infrared warmth generated by the tanning bed provides some relief of minor muscle aches.  It's very relaxing.

I dont end up orange..and I do use tanning beds once in a while, I don't really think about what can kill me, until it actually does - and that time hasn't arrived yet since I'm still alive...I think

fluffypet61 -> RE: Tanning salon (8/11/2009 12:15:28 PM)

Orange didn't happen to me, either.  Like Holly said, it depends on the product some people use to accelerate the tan.  i didn't use any product.

My tan color - you know color your skin gets on your left arm when driving with the window down? (my left arm was always a shade darker than my right arm - just from driving)  That's the color i got all over ... not orange.

When Daddy got a job as a pizza delivery guy he would regularly come home with one arm very very red, and then brown as he got used to the sun, and the other arm not so brown.

it might be vanity to some. To me it is taking care of myself and looking my best. If thats vanity...call me vain.

LaTigresse -> RE: Tanning salon (8/11/2009 2:16:51 PM)

Now I am hearing Carly Simon......"yourrrrrrrr so vain, I bet you think this song is about you....."

I know I am vain. I don't want wrinkled leathery skin or my nose lopped off.
