Now I am hearing Carly Simon......"yourrrrrrrr so vain, I bet you think this song is about you....."

I know I am vain. I don't want... my nose lopped off.

Hint: Don't close the lid till your face is all the way in[:)]

I've done the tanning thing a few times the past 20 years, but probably won't ever again.  Just don't feel the need to, and now, even though I don't spend any big amount of time in the sun anymore, I still get new moles and freckles popping out, not to mention "those horrid age spots!" starting to appear on my hands.....yuk.

Anyway, one of the first times I ever went, I had bought a package of 10 visits.  Just before visit number 6 or 7, I had taken a shower, and then my parents dropped by unexpectedly, so I just threw on some sweats and didn't bother with underwear to visit with them.  After a couple of hours, they left, and I ran off to my tanning appointment, forgetting that I was commando......

I figured, oh well, no one will know, I'll tan commando, too.......oh baby, big mistake.  At that time in my life, the sun had never seen my virgin white ass, and I stupidly tanned the whole 20 minutes without protecting it.  My ass blistered so bad, and itched like a mofo for days!!!   I would stand and rub against the stucco walls at my job like cattle on the fence to relieve the itching.  Make sure you build up to it on the "delicate" parts!

I tanned one summer to prepare myself for a cruise I was taking with the ums. My skin burns with sun exposure unless I have a base tan and I didn't want to spend our vacation being miserable with a sun burn. I liked the tan I got, I continued it through the winter and I noticed I got more fine wrinkles on my face so I stopped and haven't been back.

I'd have to say none of the above.  Most accurately, my answer would be, "no, I like being pale"

Do some research first, there are studies that have shown those who use tanning beds increase thier chances for skin cancer later in life greatly!! I personally do not think its worth the risk. Sit out in the sun get some vitamin D and enjoy the real tanning bed that was provided for all of us a longgggggg time ago.

I tanned twice.  I hate tan lines: that was my motivation.  It felt strange; not right: different than being in the sun.  The coloration isn't right either, it's different than a suntan.  Plus, if you do do it, make sure you remove jewelry: I left on a very thin bracelet that has very sentimental value to me and it burned my wrist.  Oh, and I felt that it brought out a couple of lines on my face, though anyone I said that to told me I was loopy.  I didn't care for it, I don't anticipate doing it again, it's not something I'd laude as worth doing.

No, i prefer looking like the underbelly of a fish. i dressed as an Oompah Loompah one Halloween, it wasn't a successful look for me.

Lashra -> RE: Tanning salon (8/13/2009 8:13:01 AM)

I would have answered "No, I have no interest in tanning" but there wasn't an option for it. So I'll say it right here, I have no interest in tanning. But good luck and hope you find a place that you enjoy.
