Seems many are confused as to the AARP endorsement.

Yeah - But this one is President.

Human huh? Is that the same way you felt for the previous President or is this another example of party specific prejudice for fuck ups?

I was there at that town hall meeting (actually, took place in a high school gym), and I got to shake His hand. You're just sore because you weren't invited. Neener neeener  .

I put my name down on the White House ticket lottery online, and on Sunday they rang me to tell me I'd won - pretty fucking cool, huh?

Now, my copy of "The Audacity of Hope" is nicely autographed, and I got to piss off a few sad old fucks by making witty and acerbic comments about Fox News when we were queuing to get in.

They were full of bravado, but when it came to it, they didn't utter a single word once inside. Bunch of cowards. Still, at least the meeting was civilised, unlike in other places.

The President's hand is large, warm and electric  . And his eyes... like velvet, I tell you  .

Really? I would think that 'the others' hang around there too, just for the sake of collecting information they can twist and transform into blatant lies for the fulfillment of their own agenda.

If you want a ticket, you know what you've gotta do  .

Obama:

quote:

"All I'm saying is let's take the example of something like diabetes, one of --- a disease that's skyrocketing, partly because of obesity, partly because it's not treated as effectively as it could be. Right now if we paid a family -- if a family care physician works with his or her patient to help them lose weight, modify diet, monitors whether they're taking their medications in a timely fashion, they might get reimbursed a pittance. But if that same diabetic ends up getting their foot amputated, that's $30,000, $40,000, $50,000 -- immediately the surgeon is reimbursed. Well, why not make sure that we're also reimbursing the care that prevents the amputation, right? That will save us money."

Reality:

quote:

CHICAGO—The American College of Surgeons is deeply disturbed over the uninformed public comments President Obama continues to make about the high-quality care provided by surgeons in the United States. When the President makes statements that are incorrect or not based in fact, we think he does a disservice to the American people at a time when they want clear, understandable facts about health care reform. We want to set the record straight.

Yesterday during a town hall meeting, President Obama got his facts completely wrong. He stated that a surgeon gets paid $50,000 for a leg amputation when, in fact, Medicare pays a surgeon between $740 and $1,140 for a leg amputation. This payment also includes the evaluation of the patient on the day of the operation plus patient follow-up care that is provided for 90 days after the operation. Private insurers pay some variation of the Medicare reimbursement for this service.

Reading the two quotes I would say it is the American College of Surgeons who got their facts wrong.

Nowhere in Obama's quote does he say that amount goes strictly to the surgeon.

Those are very plausible, in fact likely understated, charges overall for am amputation including drugs, tests, and hospitalization costs.
