ORIGINAL: tazzygirl Im sorry, i guess my time spent in abortion clinics just dont measure up to your high bred standards. i also suppose my years as a Labor and Delivery nurse dont count for much at all either. sorry, i worked in the trenches... and thats enough for me to be able to say what i did. wish to dispute it? by all means, do so. I feel sorry for every young woman who had to endure your pompous self-righteousness, then, while they were going through what may have been the hardest moments of their lives. That you couldn't get your morality-swallowed head out of your buttocks long enough to consider that they were suffering the consequences and decisions of mistakes we can all be prone to long enough to actually treat them as human beings rather than statistics in your dichotomized deluded head is a disgrace to health workers and volunteers everywhere who treat the people they are helping as...you know...people. But go ahead. Tell us all about how you only saw atheist and agnostic teens jumping around with pom poms begging for their abortions because they loved how it feels. Tell us how all the good little theist girls were lined outside, virgins, crying for the fetuses. Tell us again how those who choose to undergo abortion are only doing it because they are selfish, self-centered immoral deviants who couldn't keep their legs shut. Pathetic. You really are an idiot. i watched as the christian ladies led girl after girl AWAY from the clinic, and applauded each and every one who left. i delivered babies to girls as young as 13 who had only skid marks after a delivery, and held them as they cried in post partum because the "daddy doesnt love me". my heart broke as these girls had to deal with a hard life, but its one they chose, and all i could do was inform and support them. the OB/GYN's worried that i was too close to these girls. my point in saying that abortions would rise because those christian ladies wouldnt be around to lead them off that track to abortion as i have seen so many times before. now, get your head out of your own ass and realize not everyone has a heart of coal like you believe. Christians aren't the only people who are pro-life. There are plenty of atheist and other secular pro-life groups. Often doing more to prevent abortion by raising their girls with the knowledge and confidence to prevent pregnancy. The fact that you believe that a child chose to get pregnant shows how very little you understand gendered abuse, violence, and oppression. The judgmental tone you use when discussing the tragedy of those young girls' lives shows exactly what is often wrong with the religiously motivated pro-life movement. Rather than caring about life, all life, the concern is that these horrible deviant sluts be punished with babies and won't that show them the error of their ways. To bring the thread back around to topic, the absence of religion might allow for a society where all girls know they don't have to capitulate to a man unless they want to, and they don't have to dive into teenage parenthood because they were so terrified of premarital sex that they couldn't fathom purchasing a condom. you can paint me as being judgemental all you wish. i merely repeated what i was told by many girls who delivered. hell, had one mother who told me she was glad her daughter got pregnant so there would be more food stamps. and i would love to know exactly where i called them deviant sluts... i think its a crying shame... but that isnt the purpose of this thread. http://www.news-tribune.net/columns/local_story_176175157.html quote:
In Gloucester, Mass., a group of teenage girls reportedly made a pact to get pregnant. Let me say it again if you can’t believe your eyes. A group of teenage girls made a pact with each other to get pregnant. It’s OK. I can’t believe I wrote that line either, but unfortunately it is true. All of the girls are 16 years of age and under and according to media reports they gave each other high fives when they each found out they in fact were pregnant, one by a 24-year old homeless man. The school district has come under fire for teaching sex education classes in the freshman year and for providing a free on-site daycare center for the babies of any young mothers of the school. However, in an age when pressure is high to keep students in school having an on-site day care is an attempt to keep these young mothers in school not facilitate getting pregnant. For the outcry against teaching sex education in the freshman year, one need look no further than prime time television for sex education of the type that stimulates (sorry) sexual activity among hormonally overcharged teenagers. it happens... sadly... it happens
