FirmhandKY -> Has anyone else noticed .... ? (8/13/2009 9:39:53 AM)

That many lefties, now that the Democrats and the Obama administration have had much hypocrisy revealed, have switched over the topics in the forums to diss religions, and Christianity in particular?

Kinda like squeezing a balloon, seems like. The hatred just has to come out.

This would be another one of your impartial efforts to stimulate intellectually honest debate, then? Got it.

So you don't think that the run of "Religion is bad" threads has any relation to the politics of the moment?

I don't. Topics cycle.  someone posts something about a topic, and usually, there is a run on the same theme.

Thanks greedy.

I don't suspect it's anything I could prove, but it did occur to me.

You may well be right.

What I think is that's not your reason for posting it.

What i think is it's just another one of your attempts to stir up shit and then play the misunderstood innocent by hiding behind 20 pages of "that's not what i meant when I used that word" doublespeak.

What I think is that it's as telling as it is amusing that it only took you 2 posts this time to start putting words in other people's mouths, and what I think is that it's beyond tiresome.

That's what i think.

Is this anger of yours because you can't dispute facts when I post them in other threads?

Yet more of his classic passive aggressive behaviour.

I believe it's unfair to assume that 'lefties' are not of christian faith and that religion strictly a conservative domain.

I don't see it being a left or right thing.  I see it being a new poster thing.
The posters that have made the majority of the new posts on religion are fairly new posters - and think that everything they have posted is new and not posted before.

Yeah. It's entertaining to jerk his chain a little every now and then just to watch him chase his tail, but not worth much more time and effort than that.

Thanks, the.dark.

No, not all lefties are irreligious, and not all righties are religious. It takes all kinds.

I have noticed, though, there seems to be a congruence between lefty (not liberal) belief systems, and people who find religion something to be despised.

rightwinghippie -> RE: Has anyone else noticed .... ? (8/13/2009 10:41:49 AM)

I don't think the run of religion threads is due to liberal anger over Obamas hypocritical and stupid actions.

Left wingers worked to get a guy who kills or seriously wounds kids with drone bombs as they sleep, in countries we are not at war with, as collective punishment to kill thier father or thier neighbors, with no trial or rights. Are we actually supposed to pretend that the "Arab Street" is furiuos about actuall Jihadis recieving light torture, but is ok with bombs hitting homes and terrifying innocent families. Seriously we are supposed to pretend that is the way it is? By every standard Obama is just as much of a War criminal as Bush. Neither actually are.

To the OP I think the Palin threads are an example. MSNBC whips something up everytime Obama needs cover. and what Ed Schultz says is a thread started on here 10 minutes later. Lefties pretend she said and did things she didn't. She can be criticised, but people have to tell direct lies about her. It has to be exagerated and inflated. It is an attempt to make Obama look better in comparison.

It is telling lies and playing on fear. It's all Obama has. He can't even organise his own party, so he points at Republicans. If it wasn't reality with real consequences, it would be hillarious.

No, it's obvious instigation. Being an instigator, I can appreciate it. Seems to be working too!

However, I too miss the good old days, when responses weren't all emotionally based and raised an issue or point that required me to do some research and maybe learn something. When the pragmatic misrepresentation of facts generates a "he's human"; when something like 'Godwin's law is pointed to me when I provide a reference to the Nancy Pelosi calling the health care protesters Nazi's - it goes beyond hypocrisy and is better used as an indication of desperation. There has even been a noticeable decrease in the often used "not enough time" rationalization. Sad really, but reflecting a sad pragmatic reality. The 'messiah' and religion is failing; better to discuss others and keep quiet until something works.

Meanwhile, try and stay away from the opinion polls. Charge the media or adversary special interests with agenda. Ignore anyone projecting out consequences and call them names and/or cite sophomoric debate techniques. When you observe your 'religion' crumbling, be it left-ism, Obamism, or any faith based philosophy and you can't argue with pragmatic reality, one recourse is to vent against the source, or other beliefs. Religion makes an easy target for either side. Just as polarizing as politics, but without the same current day, in the news, facts. It serves as a distraction. Similar to this thread serving as instigation.

I haven't noticed it as you have.  That might be a USA/UK divide thing.  I have found a certain difference in intellect in people that are anti religious.  It might sound condecending but meh - it's what I have observed - that those that who discuss religion as bad are really good at posting links... are really good at the basics - but try and have a more intellectual debate and it's pretty pointless and resorts to pettiness and name calling (stupid, mad, on drug etc).
It's rare to be able to have an intellectual debate so I tend to choose those I respond to.  NZ for example - great debate - no name calling - no hatred.  But then that's a sign of someone comfortable in their belief (or non belief) . That I dig.
