ORIGINAL: Musicmystery Hinduism is similar. Krishna, Jesus, Ram.....the opportunities for following an individual path are wide, but yet the Upanishads start with "Filled with Brahman are all things that are; filled with Brahman are all things that are not." That pretty much covers it. Many manifestations, but one god. Now demi-gods is another story... yes.. but than again you can't generalize much in Hinduism either. So many sects and no central authority, sometimes with completely opposing views. For Vaishnavas Vishnu is the supreme, for Shaivas Shiva and so on, for extreme advaitins all this forms are illusions. Neohinduism and modern saints /Ramakrishna, Shivananda etc) popularized a more inclusive aproach, and maybe Smartas before them, but in any case all this different ideas are there and alive. Just look at the hare krishnas. For them Shiva is a demi god. For Shaktas Krishna is a demi god and so on. OT: Bahais are nice but for my taste a little too social and communal, they don't have a deeper, mystical trait that most religions have incorporated in them, an that's probably the most sincere part hidden behind all that ritualism, nationalism, fanaticism and what not.. Bahais seem no to be too affected by all this isms, but also not to have this deeper aspect of religion, at least I have such a feeling abut them, might be wrong of course.
