They may know a handful of celebrities or events from the 60's and 70's but only because it's splashed on tv often enough for them to recognize the name but that's about it.

Depends on who raised the kid. All the under 30's in our immediate family have heard of him and heard his music. Of course when I was in my 20's I had heard of singers from the 30's and 40's from my parents, so it doesn't surprise me. Now I am sure there are kids out there who have never heard of them, There are kids out there who didn't know Paul McCartney was in a band before wings. But I really don't think its the majority.

I remember when I was a young child my babysitter would bring over his 45s.

Imo it's just not that big a deal.

There was a concert in town last weekend. As I was leaving work a bunch of teenage girls were mobbing this teenage boy. I had no idea what was going on.

I called my daughter like I do everyday, told her about the mob and she said it was the lead singer of Metrostation.

I have no idea who Metrostation is. If I had seen the kid earlier in the day I would have had no clue who he is. I've never heard of him.
She has no idea who Bob Dylan is.

Different generations is all.

Back around the time that the We Are The World video was in heavy rotation on television we were discussing the video at work one day. A woman I worked with was proud that she could recognize and name most of the performers in the group but she did ask me who that little homeless guy was who sung a line or two.

Beyond that I am uber glad I did not take up law enforcement as a vocation. Talk about the ultimate thankless "damned if you do and damned if you don't" job.

I did not know he was in that Video but I never got caught up in that Propaganda Video.
