That is a shame because I hear people can fly in their second lives, such freedom.

I'm sure when I get mail from Egypt and such like those that say they are 'diminates' really do expect me to get on my broomstick just so I can kneel before them.
'There are better uses for a broomstick.....' is my stock response. I dunno about death by posting: it's death by email.

I just find the whole "shut up there are no cliques on here and all my friends agree" stuff darkly amusing.

Lets not assume that all cliques are bad though. A bunch of positive people who get along well could be deemed as a clique and the trouble with cliques is, you often don't realize your in one until its too late!
I had one friend who deleted me from her friends list because I happened to question something she said on the forums. Just because I become familiar with someone on here that I happen to like or respect does not mean I have to agree and ass lick everything they say and I certainly don't want them to do that with me either.
About six months ago there were three people on here that would write something on a forum one after another. If the first one said something negative, then the other two would be along to join in within the hour. Steve and me used to wage bets on it and it was hilarious!. Its those such people that I have little respect for and remember well.

i dont find cliquey nature too much in these forums but it does exist without a doubt,

forum ex.
Trolldom: paddles are stupid!!! you agree?

glen: i totally agree!!! OT: hows the wife?

newbie: i think paddles can be ok

starla: i cant wait to hear daves opinion!!

Dave: hey guys!!!! i think paddles can be alright!!!

glen: wow, thats really insightfull dave!!!!!!!!!!

basicly you see that goofy shit around, a newbie says one thing its brushed off untill a cool poster says it, as well new posters cant flame or troll without being attacked by a pack of wolves where a seasoned poster can be an ass with no one really saying anything, i think people reading these things get discouraged and aviod posting as they fear being shunned off collarme or "death by posting", i think it isnt a valid fear, pretty much garinteed if you post, it will piss somebody off and someone will agree with it, a good amount of people avoid cliquey matters or dont post. so even if a topics responses look universaly agreed or disagreed apon its likly not,

a quick look 500 users, 1100 guests online, most are browsing, peeking or w/e but im sure some are avoiding posting due to the fear of "death by posting". the cliques/gangs are real but they are so disorginized and retarded it doesnt matter, besides even if you dont get acsepted by the cool kids you can still sit and eat lunch with me, alone.. in the corner... [:(]

And might I state for the record that I am not, never have been and never will be an Avatar on Seconf Life. There aren't enough hours in the day to run my first life......

*sighs*

I was on second life for all of an hour and a half....and realized my first life was more than enough fun...even without the flying. [:D]

AND, I figured I better put in an appearance on this thread, lest I not be invited to get one of those nifty shiny decoder rings [;)]

While there are certainly people I've seen post where I've gone "good luck with that", no, I wouldn't say that profound mis-steps are the death-blow to them finding someone.  A lot of people get into unhealthy, meat-grinder situations all of the time, be they kinky, vanilla, etc.  Now, if someone really shows themself to have some attribute that would make me not wish to converse with them, I'd take note and they'd obviously not be in the running for any sort of relationship be it friendship, partnership, or otherwise.  If other people want 'em and no one else is being harmed, rock on.
As for myself, I've blown a gasket a time or several on the boards (Hell, my first thread/post was about a relationship that was melting down and the male who was supposed to be dominant told his wife, who felt immensely threatened and bested by me, to read the thread but not to read what I'd said 'because there was some useful input there'...riiiiight.  She posted as him on one of the threads and I responded that it couldn't possibly be him saying that as he was sleeping 12 feet in front of me.  Craziness ensued across my thread and a thread she started on which I rendered comment, there were mod spanks, censorship, flames.  Oh, and said supposed dominant also was stalking around those threads with a fake screen name that he thought I'd not figure out < And, he tried to lie about it when I confronted him directly >.  Drama in piles.  It was stupid.  In the moment it was valid to me.  A couple of peole I would call true friends are the result of people who commented on/contacted me related to those initial posts I made.  I won't say I'm sorry for anything I have ever written on the threads (Though I would say I was sorry were I wrong).
Things are a continuum.

So, what is your take on these kinds of things?  Would you recommend in these cases that a person just create a new profile and start over?  Is there such a thing as death by posting?

I'm familiar with all the threads except the one by the Mistress w/ the alcohol problem.  I'm thinking a person who starts these kinds of things could create a new profile and start over, but what would be the point?  If they haven't changed their attitude/outlook on life, they will just continue to repeat the same behavior over and over again and keep getting the same kinds of responses.  As I recall, on all of the referenced threads that I'm familiar with, the vast majority of the posters were in general agreement w/ one another on the issue set before them.  I won't say all but, yes, the majority.

I've said some pretty dumbass things myself in the past on these boards, and I've even apologized for my behavior at times.  The important thing is that we learn from our mistakes, and if someone just changes their profile name and continues on the same way that's not reallly learning anything.

I have seen temporary and perma-death on these forums a few times. I have seen the reemergence of a new screeny and it got outted and died again when discovered. Yes, I think their is death by posting.

Despite the fact in forums time often eventually heals all, sometimes when you are in a deep hole, you just need to put down the shovel!
