LadyPact -> If I Were A Scammer (8/18/2009 4:19:05 PM)

With the rash of posts we have (once again) had regarding the complaints about scammers, tributes, pro dommes, and other related money topics, I thought I'd offer this up.  It's not going to surprise Me if it's pulled or moved.  If it stays on the general board, it's not going to shock Me if it ticks a lot of people off.

With that said.........

If I was a scammer.

First of all, I would have two profiles on CM.  One, of course, would be as a Dominant female.  The other would be as a submissive female.  Needless to say, I would put up pictures of very hot, young women for these profiles.  Probably a model type of about 25 with a great build.  Of course she'd be dressed in fetish wear.  Each of these profiles would definitely list as being single.

Then, I would go searching for targets.  Well, you might be asking yourself, out of all of these profiles on CM, how would you find a good target?  I'm ever so glad you asked because I'm about to tell you.

Naturally, I'd be targeting males.  It is My belief that males are the ones who have brought the financial issue into BDSM.  There's a long history of males being the ones that have supported the porn industry for fantasy.  They have absolutely displayed that they believe the attentions and/or affections of females can be bought for centuries.  Since they have made money the great equalizer when compared with either Dominance or submission, I'd let them.

That doesn't really narrow it down a whole lot, does it?  So let's go to those areas that I think would be next.

I would specifically target males who have joined the site during certain times of the year.  Specifically those who had joined around major holidays that focus on having someone else in a person's life.  I'm thinking Christmas (or Boxing Day), New Years, and yes, even Valentine's Day.  Times of year that, statistically, it's proven that people are feeling lonely.  (If you doubt that, ask what times of year have the highest cases of reported depression.)  I'd be zoning in on that big time.  While it's not a perfect science (please look at My own date of joining the site) it would be where I would start.

Next, I'd be looking at a certain age group.  Probably 40-60.  Not young enough to not be established financially and not old enough not to have excess income.  These folks are ripe for the picking.  Oh, I'd especially look for those who mention in their profile that they have their own home or business.  My eyes would light up like dollar signs.

Unpopular kinks?  Paydirt!  That would definitely be My mark!  Those who have trouble finding their match due to being less than optimal.  Those unpopular kinks are an absolute goldmine!  Harder to find when it comes to someone who honestly enjoys certain things.

Oh, and I'd certainly look for desparation.  The kind that is almost so thick you can smell it in the air.  The ones that have no social links in their profile.  They don't speak of family or friends.  Those in isolated areas would be a bonus.  I'd look for words in profiles that would get My mind spinning.  No sweeter fruit could I have!

Now.  If you saw yourself here in what I've written, do not blame Me.  It's time that you took a look at yourself.  You who came along and made yourself the prey of those who see you for your wallet and not for who you are.  I am no brilliant mind, but I absolutely see it.  Perhaps it is time to see it in yourself and change that which makes you nothing more than a target.

So, you got some of them fine black ladies with lotsa back and elephant hide slave flimsies from Nigeria pictures, on ya?  Hit me up with a pic or two later, I got a hankerin' to get my kink on, and I pretty much match your requirements of sub-optimal.  (But in the grandest of styles.....)

Lady Pact...

I'm strangely aroused by your fit of social engineering.

I have been contacted twice by a woman who started her message with a compliment about my looks and then asked “are you a model?”  I’m definitely not male nor model material but she must think I’m very stupid!  I smelled ‘scam’;  I can’t do anything about my age or the date I joined, but I don’t think anything in my profile sets me up as a target!

Oh wow.  She must be the same person who wrote to me twice!  lmao  Could She by any chance be Mistress*** from "somewhere" in the east?  Definitely a scammer/spammer.

LP, you omitted one point I've often wondered about.  So many of the scam profiles are blindingly obviously fake.  It wouldn't take much effort to make them more realistic...

I wonder if less obviously fake profiles would sucker in enough fools to pay for the extra effort.

You'd operate more than two, and both would be looking for dominant, switch and sub men, to appear on as many searches as possible.

After a few months online, the only ones that "got" me were the ones with profile text copied out of nilla dating sites.  I prioritized writing to women who de-emphasized kink in their profiles, so I wasted some time.  Once I got the first response, saying "Please write me at yahoo email address X so we can share pictures in private," I moved on.

If I were a scammer;
and you weren't a lady;
would you ask for my wallet anyway;
would you call me baby......

mnottertail -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/18/2009 5:50:09 PM)

If I were a Scammer;
but then again; no,
or a man who makes pictures of women and call myself a ho,
anyway; the thing is,
what I really mean;
this is the biggest scam;
I've ever seen......

LadyPact -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/18/2009 5:52:21 PM)

For your money, honey, I'll bet there's lots of things I could call you.

mnottertail -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/18/2009 5:54:02 PM)

Scam in the place where you live
Find some dork
Think about the web cam

Wonder why you haven't before
Now scam in the place where you work
Don't get caught

Find yourself a sucker
Hook him in before he gets bored....

They are easy to figure. They all use Yahoo, since Yahoo chat can be used from a browser, and Yahoo mail passes on your IP address. The magic words "I don't use Yahoo, "I don't chat" or "I use Skype" make them go away very immediately.

I couldn't get my pictures uploaded here for the first month or two that I was on - they weren't denied, just went into limbo. I finally had to create a separate account in order to make them visible. My e-mail address was on Yahoo, and I did use it to exchange pictures with several guys - I didn't use chat, though.

catize -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/18/2009 6:52:21 PM)

It was a dark and kinky site; many gullible suckers’ profiles begged to be taken advantage of, except for the occasional wary kinksters, who were protected by their astute vigilance (for it is CollarMe where such scenes take place) and the scammers sent out emails in a shot-gun type salvo, fiercely unnerving the scant IQs of the naïve who struggled to resist signing that check.
(thank you, Bulwer-Lytton)

RedMagic1 -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/18/2009 6:53:01 PM)

Anda.  If you really want to know the reasons your profiles do not look scammeristic, mail me on the other side and I'll tell you.  I'm not going to provide some how-to manual in public view.  Suffice it to say that it is a red flag if sensitive profile text is combined with a one-line cut-and-paste message that emphasizes the availability of free porn.  Fundamental discrepancies that men choose to overlook because of loneliness, horniness or desperation, indicate the presence of a scam.

YoursMistress -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/18/2009 7:16:39 PM)

Lady Pact,

I've been searching all over but I'm still not sure which ones are your new  profiles.  I read through your criteria and I think I am a near-perfect match for your scammer identity. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the unpopular kinks.  I guess I will just have to be a no-limits slave to cover all contingencies.  Thanks for your consideration.

yours

Musicmystery -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/18/2009 7:35:21 PM)

If I were a scammer,
I'd scam 'em in the morning;
I'd scam 'em in the evening,
All over this land.

I'd scam out warnings!
I'd scam out dangers!
I'd scam about the love between
the subbies and the slavers
Al-ll o-ver this lan--an--an--and...
Mmm...mmm....mmm.....mmm....
