Well thanks to everyone who bared a little bit of themselves while answering this question.
The reason behind it was simply to hear if there were many people out there that had given up.
I know we all have had bad relationships, but I have been looking for someone who has a healthy balance
in their lives for so long that I am close to just throwing up my hands.
But I will trudge on and keep looking.

Thanks again and feel free to add your experiences if your just reading this for he first time.

I did have some tight spots- but that is in the past now. :-)

hmmm.... Well, I was with 2 married men (one I didn't know was married... The other got his call girl for the weekend fantasy, and that was that), One childmolesting rapest (he was 20, almost 21, and his "girlfriends" were 13... And He actually raped one of his ex's... He was in jail for about 3 years. He kept trying to win me back from there... I wasn't having it... I didn't know anything about all of this until I read it in the newspaper that He had been arrested.), One that SWORE He loved me, and that he missed me (we had broken up for a little while)... I gave Him my virginity, and afterwards, he told me that I meant nothing to him, and that I didn't need to get my hopes up. I was just a virgin he wanted to fuck. I was with a man for 4 years that his pot and video games were more important than me... He wouldn't have sex with me unless He was completely stoned out of his mind. He had a great job that he lost because I told him I wasn't happy, and that I thought we should call it quits... He had a "nervous breakdown" and just didn't go to work.. I tried to get him on some meds, and he'd scream in my face that meds are for sissys that can't deal with their problems (duh.. what are you doing asshole? Dealing soooo well I see...) He is the father to my 4 year old. He still doesn't have a job... Gets a temp job for long enough to get unimployment, and that's it. Pays me $44 a month in child suport (court ordered... and probably going to be PISSED when He finds out I'm claiming our son on income taxes).. I have had countless "secret relationships" when I was in High school and such because None of the guys in town wanted anyone to see them with me... I was fat and ugly... Talk about your ugly duckling story! ;-)

Every one of these relationships I was in before I turned 18... I am now 23 years old... Mother of one, with another on the way... In a WONDERFUL relationship with my best friend.. I couldn't ask for more... And I would never change a single one of those stories... They made me who I am today... If it wasn't for all the lousey shit I have been through in my life, I would not apprichiate the fact that I have the most wonderful Man in my life right now that treats me like gold... Fuck everyone else... Those losers are at a loss... not me.. Good Riddence...

I've had a few not so wonderful relationships in the past. A couple of years ago there were a string of dominants I was trying on, but none of them fit. Some were just freakin nuts!! And so I gave up. I stopped looking. But I knew that I wanted to play from time to time. So I agreed to meet a dominant who had been trying to meet me for 2+ years. I told him it would just be for play & very occasionally & was he ok with that. He agreed, we played. 3 weeks later I was tattooed with his mark. That was nearly 2 years ago. In spite of other difficulties, such as job blues, this has been the best 2 years of my life.

Let's see................

....The majority of my vanilla relationships have been SHITworthy, I always attracted guys w/alcohol dependencies but the WORST was a guy that had a drug dependency in addition to his alcohol dependency.
He would pop uppers and downers like they were candy. We lived together so of course I started popping too until one night I decided to end it all but the only way I could see was to take all his downers so I did. I took a handful, ran out of soda to take them with drove to the 7-11, bought a big gulp & took the rest before I went home. (taking pills w/water wasn't doable for me at that time).

I woke up 3 days later in the ICU w/a tube down my throat. The nurse told me he beat me while I was unconscious because I got into his stash, dragged me by the feet to throw me in a cold shower so he could beat me some more (his own admission) but he dropped me, banged my head on the floor & started beating me then......(there was a boot print on my back). I was also told a priest gave me last rites. Yes I did this to get away from him so what did I do when I left the hospital? You betcha, I went right back to him.

I went thru alot of losers and at time's I did give up on the idea of finding happiness but I have and so can you. Now when I'm beaten I'm awake & I enjoy it!

I would like to know why no men are replying to this?

Marks, $44 a month? Wow- talk about a low amount.

It seems there are more messed up people then not. Then anyone over 30 has baggage.
At the risk of pissing off the board....

it seems-

1. woman can be controlling and try to change a guy.
2. men can think they own a lady like one owns a coat- the "I am the man" tough guy thing - is reflecting of the small penis.
3. throw in drugs and booze- and it gets crazier.

I applaud those who learn from a bad experience.

Of course I had a few bad experiences. Today I am wiser. :-) (I hope)

...one time- fun episode.   I should have known there was a problem- when Lester dropped Don off he barely stopped the car.   At first my guest - and hunk- was a dream.... then he decided he wanted some beer.   Well- a few hours later- he turned into a monster- he would not let me use the bathroom because I might climb out the window and get away.   So - it was a hostage type of deal.

...we all know I take codeine pills on occasion.   When Don realized this- he decided he wanted some of my pills.

Well- I managed to switch pills with another pill- when he wasn't looking... as I wanted to codeine for me- he even asked why there was no ""3" on the pill- I said- that they were generic.    So he took 4 of them. I told him not to.

--20 minutes later- he turns beet red- and said he thinks he is dying.   I of course acted like it was no big deal.

LOL- I don't recall if he ever learned what those pills were.    Anyhow- once they kicked in- I then took my apartment back. hehe,

the pills were Niacin.   Gotta love that flush rush!!!!   ;-0

You know, I haven't really had bad relationships. I've been pretty smart and observant. The moment any kind of ugliness pops up, I bail. I don't have a need to fix broken people (unless you are paying me a lot of money to do it and at that point, I'm happy to help). I've always figured that I'd rather be alone than in a bad relationship.

I've made some foolish mistakes and learned from them. There have been times when my loneliness (rather than being with someone bad) has gotten the better of me, and I'd given up on love, romance, etc. until recently.

I suppose that makes me something of an anomaly. I've never been abused in a relationship that I chose, I've never been cheated on or cheated (although I've had some pretty foolish poly relationships that went south quickly). The worst stuff from me has come from my family... and the people who were pseudo families. I learned the lesson pretty quickly.
