ORIGINAL: LdyyR I haven't camped since, well, um, since I was about 10 years of age. I'm going beach camping and since I haven't the slightest idea about tents and such, any advice would be appreciated. I was looking at those pop up tents anyone ever try one of those? Would these, http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=amb_link_6393752_5?ie=UTF8&node=267174011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=auto-sparkle&pf_rd_r=09T7XNC32K2Q79E6Q6FB&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_p=421464001&pf_rd_i=pop%20up%20camping%20tent stand up for a weekend camping trip? I'm thinking probably not, but I'm hopeful as these are probably as much as I will be able to manage to put together. What am I getting myself into. I can't wait for this adventure to begin. I'm sure its going to be quite a comedy of errors once I get on site. [:D] I've got a quechua pop up tent that I bought last year, spent half the summer in it working at festivals (and rather stupidly in the middle of all that I went on a litte camping holiday) they are just as good as old-style tents of the same price, but well; instant. they do have two draw backs, they are stored in the bag as a big disc, that isnt really convenient to carry whilst hiking (its possible, I took it on a 10 mile hike in snowdonia carrying a rucksack on my back and that in my hand, but its hard to stop it dragging on the ground) and putting them away, whilst very quick, does take a few goes to get the knack of. they are also a bit more resiliant to vandalism than other tents, for reasons I can't begin to fathom, whilst at festival in the lakes last year some arsehole threw a wheelrim at it while I was working a nightshift, the tent next to mine had a pole snapped, presumably by the same wheelrim, mine had simply bent down under the weight of it.
