With the recent increase of dominants that require tribute/money (aka PRO) on the collarme.com community, I think it would be a good idea to create an option in the profile page that shows whether or not the specified person is a lifestyle or pro. This way, people who are looking specifically for lifestyle or pro won't have to go through the trouble of filtering themselves, and the site will do it for you such as in the filtering of age, gender, orientation, etc... I also understand that there are many fakes on the site that ask you in weird ways to get your money, and maybe this option can help stop the spread of fakes on the site. This is of course just an idea, but is there anyone who understands and agrees with my point of view?

I like it.  A big frustration for a lot of guys is that they are seeking a real time lifestyle Mistress, but they keep running into women asking them for money.  I'm sure a lot of them would appreciate not having to deal with that hassle.

On the flip side, it would be good for those who are offering professional services to be easily searchable, for both them and the clients.

I can relate to that experience as I too have run into people demanding money for a chat while searching for friends on the site.

I would be totally for it.  Filtering them out would simplify searches.

DomImus -> RE: An idea for the Collarme.com community (8/22/2009 8:02:37 AM)

It's a good idea but just like any profile option idea it's only as good as people's willingness to use it. Just because that option exists doesn't mean it will have any effect. Look at the all the forum trauma over genetically born females versus m2f transgendered folks.

Well its a start. Although people who aren't specifically looking for a certain person can opt not to use this feature, people who are actually looking for a specific type have less to filter and waste time, which could lead in using that time to search for more people :)

What about the pro-dommes who are also lifestyle?

Trouble?  I guess it is troublesome to be selective and use good judgement when entering into communication with someone from an online site.

I also understand that there are many fakes on the site that ask you in weird ways to get your money, and maybe this option can help stop the spread of fakes on the site.

I can see it now... scammer from ? decides to put up a profile and when given the choice to tick either "real" or "fake" they, of course, choose real because...well, why advertise the fact they want to scam?  If someone lacks enough common sense to question whether or not they should send money to someone they've only exchanged emails with, perhaps they need the life lesson learned from being scammed.

This is of course just an idea, but is there anyone who understands and agrees with my point of view?

Sorry, I didn't vote because you didn't offer a box for "does it really matter?"
If you use the search feature, you'll find many threads started about this complaint.

Andalusite -> RE: An idea for the Collarme.com community (8/22/2009 8:08:27 AM)

Bondage.com has that system in place (a green $ next to the person's name in their profile), and I don't recall any similar complaints in the forums there, back when I was active there. However, I guess it is on the honour system, and it may not be as easy to set up this site to automate it. Since it is free, they don't have the budget for programmers to go in and change it. Other people have suggested something similar before. For now, if someone is breaking TOS, go ahead and report them using the profile button.

On IC you have two profiles linked together, one 'lifestyle' one advertising, it works pretty well

These people would simply not have to use this feature, as then it would simply give you search results like you wanted. Ex: Not having age as a search parameter would give you the full range of age selection from 18-whatever the maximum is, this is the same idea as not choosing this option would give you search results of both pro-dommes and lifestyle-dommes. In regards to false advertising....well then I guess you have to deal with that whether or not this option is available to you or not. This feature is primarily aimed towards submissives that are looking for a specific type.

This is just another feature that will help the community. Imagine what it would be like to search without the filters of age, gender, orientation, etc....it would quite possibly take a few hours just to find someone in the specified age group. I am not saying that this idea is the most perfect one, but it can help as another filter parameter. In regards to judgement, since the person already has chosen to enter the site, I think that would be considered as the "judgment" on that person's part.

I also understand that there are many fakes on the site that ask you in weird ways to get your money, and maybe this option can help stop the spread of fakes on the site.

That is precisely why I said "MAYBE this option can help stop". I agree with you that it is near impossible to filter scammers, but as I said, its a start. As for the life lesson part, I disagree with you as no-one wants to be scammed. That is why communities are there to help prevent such disasters with support and answers to questions people may have.

This is of course just an idea, but is there anyone who understands and agrees with my point of view?

I understand your point and this was just a suggestion, no biggy...

MadameMarque -> RE: An idea for the Collarme.com community (8/22/2009 9:02:31 AM)

I agree with you, in essence.  I expect you'll still have dominants claiming not to be pro, who are nonetheless asking for compensation, and calling it something else.  But making it an available search term ought to cut through a lot of that, in one way or another.  At the very least, if they're not honest about it, it will be easier to call them on it.

Conscientious, responsible pro dominants will identify themselves as such, when they're looking for clients.  They don't pretend to be considering someone for a personal relationship, while demanding financial compensation and calling it a tribute or excusing it in some other way.

What I would suggest, though, is that an option like that be termed based on what the person is currently seeking.  I'm not immediately coming up with the right wording, but if you say, "Pro" or "Lifestyle," check one, it could be misleading.  I mean, it's clear what the two choices are meant to indicate, in the context of this thread.  You want to know whether a dominant is looking for some form of personal interaction (play, dating, relationship) or whether they're seeking clients.  But if someone marks "Lifestyle," how involved do they have to be, for it to be their lifestyle?  It may imply to some people a level of involvement.

DesFIP -> RE: An idea for the Collarme.com community (8/22/2009 10:27:38 AM)

The only ones it would filter out are the legitimate prodommes, the same ones who state that on the profile. As long as they don't click that label, they won't hit the filters.

TurboJugend -> RE: An idea for the Collarme.com community (8/22/2009 10:29:38 AM)

PErsoanlly I think CM should let Pro's who ask tribute pay, like any other person who likes an advertisement on here.
That money can be used for the website or what ever then. Also will slow down the stream of not so serieus pro's to the website.

windchymes -> RE: An idea for the Collarme.com community (8/22/2009 10:32:19 AM)

Perhaps there should be a group organized to discourage one another against sending ANYBODY money.  That way, there wouldn't have to be so many agonizing decisions to make.

FullCircle -> RE: An idea for the Collarme.com community (8/22/2009 10:41:51 AM)

It won't make a difference one way or another, why would a pro restrict the number of eyes looking at their profile and how would you know a pro was worth the expense just because they select the category pro?

People will end up with two profiles and they'll say with one 'oh I love being here for the interaction bla bla bla etc. more bla.' then they'll say 'by the way I am also a prothingey here is my pro profile in case you are interested.'

It's nice to be upfront about it but how often is 'tribute required' half way down the profile page rather than right at the top?

when Pro's have to pay to advertise. Cm can hire a fulltime mod to look at the profiles. That is how some other websites do it too.

FullCircle -> RE: An idea for the Collarme.com community (8/22/2009 10:51:14 AM)

It seems obvious to me from the total number of profiles you'd need a hell of a lot of man power to police such a thing and they would require paying, so in all likeliness any revenue you get from Pro accounts wouldn't cover the cost to police it.

I think it’ll just stop people being upfront about it in their profile and they’ll tell you only once the conversation got going they needed a tribute. i.e. why pay for a pro profile if you can avoid using the word tribute in your profile until the relationship was further down the road and outside of the restrictions and supervision of this place?

Some would do it and some would cut corners and save costs just like in all other forms of business.

I also don’t think the bondage.com thing is an accurate comparison because on bondage.com users pay for an account that gives them more features and allows them to view more profiles. It isn’t done to police those asking for money. I doubt they spend much money ensuring everyone sticks to their category.

edit: 'in all likeliness = I think', additional stuff about bondage.com added.

Of course, that big red banner that says "Don't send other users of CM money for any reason" doesn't help.
