CougarStud -> Is a Microphone fool proof? (8/22/2009 10:12:01 AM)

Is there a way for a man to use a mic to talk on the computer but make his voice sound like a female?

I have had 2 "females" claim they have a mic but no cam and that they can prove they are female with a mic because I can hear their voice and know.  One lived only 2 hours away and wouldn't meet for coffee so I thought the mic thing was fake.

Oh probably, to be honest if you are that unsure of them then I say find someone else

Yes, there are voice programs that will talk in other voices. If you live nearby, then just ask to meet for coffee for half an hour. If you're ready and they aren't, or vice versa, then you're incompatible for that moment. Just move on.

Yes, the inexpensive ones are, as you'd expect limited. But the professinal class devices (think about $1000 or so) do a very credible job. Nothing but a voice coach can fix the intonation and word selection differences between males and females though.

But seriously, if someone is going to shell out a thousand bucks for a piece of hardware and then more for voice coaching, that's some pretty serious commitment to deception.

Easily. Hell, most kids in a garage band have the electronics to do this.

Voice faking can be achieved with softwares, as I know. It wouldn't be as effective as a $1000 hardware, mainly because of the delay that takes the software to process the digitalised sound, but I guess those softwares are able to satisfy the needs of a successful voice faker. About the software cost, fakers would probably just crack it.

I was going to say some of 'em will do anything for a wank....
sorry.
I know it's time invested and I do it and have to learn to drop and move on.
Getting better at it, boy oh boy, getting better all the time. Drop and move on.

I suppose it could be possible yes, there are ways to disguise your voice make it so it does not sound like you. But I don't know if there's ways to sound female when you're not.

Specch therapist. Those who specialise in working with the transgendering do a very good job.

It is possible, if you listen to Wayne Newton, Donnie Osmond and Michael Jackson early in their career's, they sound like squeeling little girls.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Is a Microphone fool proof? (8/22/2009 4:05:48 PM)

Hopefully that was because they were pre puberty.  There are some guys well past puberty that are pretty squeaky voice wise.

All though I am a  26 year old  a lot of people when they hear my voice on the phone ask me just how old I am, because to them I still sound like a little kid. So if people want fool proof they're better off meeting face to  face.

The most inexpensive way to have a male voice change to something akin to a female voice is to slap two bricks together with the male's balls in the middle.. The results will differ from male to male and there is no guarantee so you may have to experiment a while though.
