Okay... I am so excited right now. I spent the morning with one of my favorite tattoo artist who drew me up a beautiful tattoo from my conception. He did a fantastic job and I am so happy, I feel like a kid at Christmas time who just got what I asked Santa for.

It is a spider web coming out of my cleavage up towards my collar bone with a black widow on it. It is insain! lol

I even have the next one planned out the conjie(japanesse words) for obedient slave on my right wrist.

Arpig,
I wasn't sure how to spell kanji to behonest with you so thank you.

Greedy,
Thanks its tender obviously but I love it he did it free hand which is a 1st but the spider web doesn't look like the tradition throwing star that you see for web. lol

FanksNFeet,
THAT statement is so very true.

Rhi,
It had been a yr since my last one so I was itching especially since I had the concept in my head.

Edited to add:
a "dom" emailed me on the other side earlier told me i had no self respect for desecrating my body with tattoos. I had to laugh, my body is a convous in my eyes and my tattoo are my picasso's.

Ok, I am one week in from my first ever piercings, tattoo next, my own rendition of a tribal scorpion on my back shoulder. Which hurts the most, nipple piercings or tattoo on the shoulder blade.

Spiders webs always look good, but I hope it's not true, but where spider's webs are shows neglect.

Looks like a very good wok from the picture. I hate spiders with a passion, so not really something for me ... shudder

Just make sure you get the kanji right. I have seen more than one kanji tattoo saying something completely ridiculous, because the owner did not check and simply trusted the artist.

Nika,  I love the new ink...looks great and the spider has lots of symbolic meaning.  I'd love to hear why you decided on that design.

As for the person who sent the email...when I had my tat done over a year ago, I had 2 good friends of mine, both doms, tell me I had devalued myself and no dom in his right mind would want me (mind you, my ink is a 3in Orphic Egg of my own design).  I told them it was a good thing I wasn't looking for a dom

People will always have opinions...its your canvas, enjoy!

btw...I've been working on the design for my next one. My little snake/egg is lonely!

Carrie,
I am single and looking but part of accepting me is accepting the fact that I have tattoos and want more. And you are right spiders are very very symbolic, hell so is a spiders web for that matter.

sandra,
I agree if I do get the kanji I will def. do my home work.

Aneirin,
I am so scared of peircings. lol I have seen them ripped out way to much by accident and on purpose.

Carrie,
Here is the reason behind me getting this tattoo.

The spider is an ancient symbol of mystery, power and growth.

I take my first lesson from the ancient symbol of the spider by contemplating its web.

Just as the spider weaves a web, so too must we weave our own lives. My spider web tattoo serves as a reminder that my choices construct my life. When the spider appears to me, it is a message to be mindful of the choices I am making - and ask myself:

- How are my choices affecting my life?

- How are my choices improving my life?

- How are my choices affecting others in my life?

Not only do spiders and their webs draw attention to my life choices, they also give me an overview of how I can manipulate my thinking in order to construct the life I wish to live.

Spiders do this by calling our awareness to the amazing construction of their webs. Fully functional, practical, and ingenious in design - spider webs serve as homes, food storage, egg incubators - seemingly limiteless in their functionality.

When we consider this ingenious diversity, we can also consider the web-like construct of our own lives. How am I designing the most effective life?

When I see my decisions, choices and actions as far-reaching, effective tools in life - I can see how I weave a web that can either serve me or enslave me. The spider symbol meaning beckons me to be mindful of my behaviors - be smart about the life I weave for myself.

Good for you!  I put off having my First bit of ink done because I kept dating guys who were vehemently opposed to women having tattoos of any sort, regardless of how feminine or where they were placed.  I'd wanted one since I was in my teens, and waited until I was 39 to get that first one.  After getting rid of all the guys who were sooooo opposed to it, I made a conscious Choice - this is part of who I am, like it or don't get involved with me.  I haven't regretted the choice, I Certainly haven't regretted getting rid of the guys that were so snotty about it, and I don't regret "limiting the playing field" (as one snotty bitch would have it, when I went in to get a rather large piece done towards finishing my sleeve.)  All of my tattoos are there for a Reason - they remind me of where I've been.  They give a clue (if you bother to find out the symbology behind them) of who I am, and where my road has taken me.  They remind me NOT to make the Same Mistakes again, since most of them were placed at points in time when something had gone wrong (or I was finally Recovered from something that had gone wrong) to remind me of how I got to where I am.

It's obvious from your explanation of why you chose the design you did - you've taken the lessons of your Totem to heart.....

:P Rhi

Aneirin:  the piercing is an immediate sharp pain, followed by tenderness for a while.
Tats are a longer drawn out ouchie during the process, but that tends to end quicker than a piercing, in my experience.

Also... nobody is going to be able to tell you which would be worse for you.  For instance, the tat at the top of my back felt GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD to me while it was being done... the 'tramp stamp' (lower back) hurt like bloody hell.  I have spoken with people who found it to be the opposite for them... The ones on my shoulder blades weren't horrific.

Greedy,
I slept while he was doing my back peice, the tat from pelvic bone to pelvic bone hurt alot but yesterday wow... when he went between the cleavage I had to dig my nails into my thighs. lol You never know and each persons body reacts differently. It probably didn't help that Josh's apprentice was making me laugh.lol

LOL Nika.. the last piece I got (on my calf) HURT like a bitch.. the guy threatened to strap me to the table to make me quit fidgeting.

I attributed it to getting older.  I'm almost afraid to try and get the thigh piece finished....

The various pieces on my right arm (there are 4 there currently - 2 very large, 2 small) weren't bad except the area Right inside the inner elbow where the tip of my fairy's wing is - that portion hurt like all hell.  The piece on my left arm (only 1 there) was painful the entire time I was getting it, even though I have more and larger pieces on the other side in the same area.  The piece on my shoulder blade - eh, not that bad - kinda like the smaller ones that I have on my right arm, woulda slept through it, if it hadn't been the First one I got.  It's a drawn out multiple pinch/sting, which eventually becomes  numb during the process.

Piercings.... omg, OUCH.  I've considered them, and then put away the idea to be reconsidered later, simply because it hurt so much even to have my ears done!

(btw GT - just to rub it in more - I have money set aside to go get my next piece done after I get back from a camping trip this weekend lol - more work on the sleeve.... since it's themed, I'll likely have a castle in the clouds done on the upper inner arm, proportionate to my fairy, so it looks like it's in the distance from her.)
