You are not mistaken....if you check, you will also find that republicans advocated that insurance pay for elders to have access to end of life medical counseling before they decided that it was just another word for "Government Death Panels".

But what the hell, it's summertime. Flip flops are in fashion.

tazzygirl -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/30/2009 5:06:25 PM)

So they are fighting against their own ideas?

nice...

They don't fight for or against ideas - they fight for or against ideologies. Ideas are adapted or rejected on a case by case basis, depending on whether they advance or weaken the ideology.

To be honest, that describes both sides of the isle as far as I can see. You guys really need a few more viable parties so you everything didn't have to be a "yur with us or yur agin us" issue.

tazzygirl -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/30/2009 5:31:40 PM)

so both sides came to the same conclusions... the battle is now who gets to make it a law?

Thats not a question Spinner of Tales. It is an accusation. And it is baseless.

"As for the security of data, I think you may be overstating the ability of anyone and everyone to access that data. "

This is becoming boring Spinner. I said no such thing. Anyone and everyone?!?!, do you think people are dumb enough to not notice? As I keep having to say to you--- Please debate, what I am actually saying, instead of making up your own version of it.--- It is intellectual cowardness of the highest order. And I want you to stop doing it. You embaress yourself and the left.

rightwinghippie -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/30/2009 6:46:32 PM)

Tazzy, its actually a different proposal. Surely you can understand that many different things could fall under the phrase. "end of Life Counciling".

Consider that if it was the same thing (that is already law) there would be no need to propose it would there? Why are the Democrats wasting our time and money trying to get a law passed that was already passed by the Republicans a few years ago?

Since it is the same thing according to you and Panda and Spinner, right?

tazzygirl -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/30/2009 6:48:42 PM)

What they are trying to get passed is the reimbursement for the Doctor's time to have such counseling sessions with their patients. Not only does it set aside the time for more one on one time with Dr and patient, it gives Dr's the encouragement to actually take the time to have this discussion. And it is voluntary, if the patient wants it or not.

rightwinghippie -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/30/2009 6:51:05 PM)

I am not seeing it Tazzy, how is it different that the law you and Spinner and Panda are talking about up the page?

tazzygirl -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/30/2009 6:56:06 PM)

your question doesnt make sense

rightwinghippie -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/30/2009 7:01:19 PM)

Up in post 61-3 you, Spinner, and Panda are laughing that the Republicans are opposing the "death Panels" that they put into law a few years ago. Aren't you? Or am I misreading that?

<hint maybe you should double check before you agree with Spinner on things like this>

Let me quote you, RWH,
"Obama wants to link all the records that are relevant to our health (which is absolutly everything), and have it available online, where it will of course be absolutly protected <ROFLMAO>, and could never be used against you in any way."

That seems so indicate a concern with the security of the data, or a fear that the data will be used in an incorrect manner. I merely pointed out that I think your concern somewhat greater than the situation called for. Again, our financial records have been available on the web for years and I haven't noticed any wide spread abuses of it by those administering it or the government. I did admit that there are thieves who have taken advantage of it, but that is treated as a serious crime and strenuously fought against. I still don't see how the risk of medical records being kept electronically outweighs the benefits.

As for embarrassing myself and the left by my postings, I would say that this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black, but I don't want to give certain posters the opportunity to use this to show that I, and by extension the rest of those not in line with the right wing, are actually racists.

Yet Spinner, you can't tell the difference between a statement and a question, and you broadcast that to the room.....[8|]

My comments were related, if you take another look, at the single payer system, which i believe i read somewhere was an idea of Bush 1 as well.

And no where do i consider health care or end of life discussions a laughing matter. The Elderly often dont know their rights, what to expect, what options are available or who to turn to for help. They are scared, and all this talk of death panels are scaring a population both sides state they wish to protect. Its pissing me off that this is happening to begin with over something that is already being done. Now, because a bill was introduced to cover the costs of such talks with Dr's, we are suddenly mandating death panels. How sad is that!

rightwinghippie -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/30/2009 7:10:05 PM)

I do not believe that Bush 1 was an advocate of a Single Payer Health Care System.

What I can tell is a question of the "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" variety...and I will proudly broadcast that to anyone interested in the conversation.

rightwinghippie -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/30/2009 7:13:24 PM)

But its a statement, not a question.

Anyway moving on.....

I cannot find the source at this time. As i said, i believed i read that. I could be wrong. Ill keep looking. I hate being sick

rightwinghippie -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/30/2009 8:08:17 PM)

I hope you get well soon!!

Lostkitten3 -> RE: GOP hints Dems would deny Republicans health care (8/31/2009 7:09:25 AM)

I believe that Obama brought up a different form of healthcare so that the republicans could go "Nuh-uh!" and then raise single payer. Because no matter what Obama brought up, the republicans would have opposed it. I think it is a trick used often in gov't and especially with young children to get them to do what you really want by proposing something else. I know Barney Frank and many Dems and centrist Repubs are in favor of single payer health care, so it seems to me the ploy was used to get the far right to shush. Or at least blow hard in the right direction.

Personally, I am in favor of any health care. Yes. Any. I cannot afford any, for me or my son. It is cheaper to pay as I need it.
