It is hard to be positive when in pain.

Have you seen a chiropractor? They are better at giving more immediate relief from back pain than other forms of treatment.

And get a yoga band to stretch out your hamstrings. If you keep your hamstrings stretched, the back doesn't go out nearly as often.

Since Mormons don't drink... might be a challenge. ;)

Well said both of you though.

I couldn't think of anything off hand that Utah was famous for, aside from the Bonneville salt flats, and the Mormon church.

I hope he doesn't take that as a dig, it wasn't my intent.

Nah, that's about all there is here.
Kidding, it's actually a pretty cool city, I know I love living here.

To the O.P. though.  You know what, how abut I get out my violin for you.  You at least have a room, a roof over your head, a bed, food in your stomach, a computer and internet.  Judging by the description though, I bet if you look out the window of that room you'll see a bunch of people that wish they had just that roof or bed and would be damned happy with it.

As one of those horrible D-types, I can certainly say this.  Someone as negative as you, I sure as hell wouldn't want as my pet.  My pet was not in a good situation when we met, but he was positive and working toward something better, instead of bitching and whining.  Guess what, he got something better.  A spot in the bed between two people that love him more than the world, a bed in a nice victorian style brick house and everything he could possibly want (within reason... be damned if he's getting an audi r8 before I do). ;)  Why does he have these things though?  Simple.  Because I saw someone with potential, with positivity and a good attitude and willingness, not because I saw a whiny little brat that is bitching because he has comforts that hundreds of thousands in this country alone don't have.

So, before you start yapping about how horrible all the D-types are and how much your life sucks on a forum, look out that window and compare your life to that old guy there, probably a disabled veteran who has seen all the horrors a war can offer and is now living in a cardboard box if he happens to get lucky that night and has all of his earthly belongings in his pocket and think of how much he'd think he was in the Taj Mahal to be in that smokey room of yours the next time it rains.

EDIT:  typo... damn fingers.

WOAH!! When the hell did I become Mormon?

Guilt By Association I guess.

Actually for a Bass Ackwards as this Town can be, I know many many many Mormons who are very very very good people.

The Issue I have with having a beer bought for me is that I have been in recovery from all mind altering drugs (Including Alcohol) for 5 years now.

But thank you both for the compliments.

Not so. After 25 years of back problems (caused by cutting a car in half using a motorcycle as a blunt instrument - go me! ) I'd describe chiros as a bunch of clueless butchers. My experiences suggest osteopaths or simple physio is a better, less damaging, solution, and a longer term one too.

Also not necessarily true - depends on the history and nature of the problem. In some cases, you can make things worse that way.

OP: See a professional and get some proper, targeted, advice.

Actually, thinking about it, there's ONE simple thing I do sometimes suggest, as it seems to help in so many cases, but it's odd.

Avoid caffeine in all forms, especially coffee. Part of the effects of caffeine (and part of how it helps keep you awake) is it tightens muscles, especially in the lumbar region, so cutting it out can help in the short term, but for a longer term solution see a pro.

Ok, see a pro healthcare person. Just seeing a pro won't help if it's a mechanic.

PS: I tried the above and it definitely helps, but sadly I'm too addicted to good coffee to give it up for long I just stop it or cut it down when my back's really bad.

Okay, so you feel down, and I'm not going to add to it by pointing this or your failure out.

But a suggestion, have you ever tried to write blues songs? No seriously. I knew a few blues singers who tried to make it big. Howling Coyote Taylor, Whistling Willie Ramsbottom (he had a lot of problems, as I can remember), looking at your OP you'd probably be quite good at it if you had a guitar and knew a bit about music.

You just write simple verses like:

Since you left me baby
I can't sleep no more
(repeat)
Cos you took our bed with you
When you walked out of the door

or

I once loved a woman
But she threw me out on the street
(repeat)
And till I get my socks back
Got nothing to wear on my feet

Worth a try?

Superb idea! Love it
