America has the premise of freedom of Religion.
America is pluralistic in the what is regarded as Religion.
It is unfortunate that the original poster finds it acceptable to disenfranchise the other +300 or so religions found in America which are not christian in form or nature.

When did American become a Christian country? 
As soon as the Europeans took it over from the indigenous inhabitants (American Indians) and either sublimated their culture and religion or converted them. 

Scriptural basis for doing such things? 
Not off the top of my head.  Perhaps someone taking the "being fishers of men" directive too far.  Certainly, employing the My God's Got a Bigger Dick (Attributable to Carlin, that phrase, as I recall) train of thought. 

I'm pissed that I could get killed in the crossfire of shit that is revenge for the Crusades.  I didn't do it, I'm not a Christian yet the war we're (We: America, and as an American, I stand with my country) waging definitely has facets of Christianity versus Islam (And, my saying that in no way takes away from my appreciation for the troops that are serving).

Since it is a calender that was devised by catholics and called a gregorian calender after a blessing of Pope Gregory, I assume it means our god is the pope, to that timepiece. Why is this so, well, thats where all the universities and astronomers and eminated from since they had the coffers built off the backs of the poor, and the guilt of the rich.

Other than that, it is just a numbering system, like cartesian coordinates, not THEE numbering system, but A numbering system.

Yes, you are deferring to a Christian lean if you're using those letters. 
If you wish to convert to a secular lean, adopt BCE and CE.

And if you were writing in the 18th century, 300 years before the CE/BCE convention was invented, what would you do then?

Simply put using AD or writing 'In the year of our Lord' proves nothing about the religious orientation of the writer.

CE is sometimes known as the Christian Era, so it isnt as simple as it seems. Its odd that since AD/BC are common usage, people insist anyone using this dating system must be Christian. Are we suggesting all other faiths must use a seperate system, rather than the standard one.

I think you are trying to make things too complicated... There are simple facts...The majority of Americans claim to be Christian and the vast majority believe in the existence of God...this despite the strong anti -religious faction here on CM.

If the majority is Christian then I think the claim could be made that we are a Christian country…don’t you think that reasonable?

I have no clue about scriptural justifications, but I was under the impression that the US became *noisily* Xtian in the 20th century, when it became necessary to differentiate ourselves from the godless Soviets.  (see:  addition of "one nation under god" to the pledge, etc.)

I long for quieter days.  Whether or not the country is majority Xtian, the point is that there is supposed to be room for minorities as well.
