Yup. This "huge protest against Obama" (i.e. a gathering of racist a-holes) was a FRACTION of the size of a yearly comic book/science fiction/gaming convention, whose numbers were down, thanks to the tight economy.

Having heard reports about the speeches, read the signs, etc. used in this demonstration, I have to tip my hat to the demonstrators. I have seen nothing that they did that is in any way beyond the envelope of reasonable political discourse or action. I would personally be very happy if all the current political discourse from both sides never fell below this level.

I feel quite comfortable saying to those who demonstrated and those who agree with them, "I may not agree with a thing you say, but I will defend to my death your right to say it."

Let us hope that this demonstration in some way helps to elevate the discussion and demonstrations on political issues up from the gun-toting, swistika waving disgraces to a reasonable society that we have seen demonstrated in recent months.
