I think that shooting cops will help stop the NKVD mentality of these fools.

I prefer a breathalizer in each car.... lol

As far as cops drawing blood, im curious to know if their training extends to all the possible complications and treatments for such.

Bad idea.  VERY bad idea.  Ok, wet dream for the lawyers, but otherwise, hideously bad idea, that just might encourage the sort of thinking Ron is spouting about.

This is insane. I don't care what SCOTUS ruled drawing blood without a warrant is a violation of that person's civil rights. The thing to do is to make refusing a breathalyzer be equivalent to a DUI conviction.

Pretty sure its the law in Illinois as well but obviously Idaho and Arizona think pinning people to the hood of their cars and jamming a syringe into a vein is a better idea.

For all intents and purposes, it is in my state.

Yeah let ONE cop come near me with a fucking needle.

Not only am I anemic, I'm hypoglycemic. Drawing half a small vial of blood from me and I'll pass out. Can I sue him for assault then?

Doubtful. If they are drawing, they will claim probable cause.

The winning or losing would depend, in part, on how the law is written, the training, the place of such venipunctures, ect. Its bound to be one test case after another moving through the court system. Talk about a waste of money. Most jails have nurses, take them to jail, let the nurse there draw, for petes sake. Ends alot of problems. And if they say no, then no license and automatic conviction.

... and what if the person is a hemophiliac (some one who can not clot their own blood); or some one whom is on any number of other legal medications.

I see this as turning real evil.

AFTER THOUGHT: Isn't there a Union for Blood handlers in the US? And is this ruling essentially a conceived means to bust a union?

They usually have ID cards or bracelets stating such. And it would make me wonder why someone like that would be drinking to begin with. A quick ride to the ER, case settled.

What about people who have medical conditions known or unknown, who may present as if they are drunk, but are not and valuable time being lost becasue an officer is performing a medical proceedure on the streets and might not see what a real medical professional might see? Wouldn't it be best to take the person who is drunk to the ER, cuffed and such and have them screened there? How long does it take to transport someone and how quickly would the alcohol level's change to the point of disproving their drunken state?

If they do the blood test at the police station currently... is it done by a medical professional?

~FR~

Without further belaboring the position of the blood-thristy...

Obviously, current methods are both acceptable and effective at arresting, charging and convicting drunk drivers.

Anyone who thinks a new method will stop it knows nothing about either alcohol or people.

We'll see what happens the first time an officer contracts HIV from someone he drew when he accidently sticks himself with their used needle.

I'm a big proponent of helping the state's statistics on collecting those unpaid parking tickets, or speeding tickets, by simply having the officer draw his gun to the taxpayer's head, and have them fork over the cash right there on the spot. If the person doesn't have the cash on them, the cop can ride with the taxpayer to the nearest ATM whereupon said taxpayer can then, at gunpoint, fork over the cash. If said taxpayer requests, and if the cop's in the mood to, the officer can write a receipt for that amount. That way, there's no court date, and 100% of tickets would be paid.

It takes around two hours per pint ( A UK pint is bigger than a US pint ) for beer to quit the system. Wine takes longer, although all this varies depending on body size, tolerance to alcohol, food intake before hand ect ect.

Sheesh, thats done by nurse Lockit, I thought everyone knew that.

Now i am picturing you in a nurses uniform, in a police cell, and with your own set of cuffs. Life doesnt get much better than that.....LOL
