You are lucky. I come from family of National Enquirer's. If someone got pregnant, started a period, had a wet dream, got a love note, found a white hair.. it was all worth doing the call network. <<shudder>>
As for TMI here.. I don't mind it. I know only a handful of people in person, the rest are random strangers so it is basically like watching TV. I can turn it off if I don't know them.

I prefer to keep personal stuff, just that, personal.

I lose a tremendous amount of respect for people that drag hurtful personal stuff out for all the world to see. Especially when it appears to be a poor attempt to make themselves seem more important, justify their behaviour or belittle the other person when it is usually THEM that was the fool. (although the sadistic bitch in me enjoys watching them make a fool of themself.......especially if it is a chest thumping wanna be male dominant [:D]) But it makes me sad for the person that they hurt.

The sexual stuff, it's crass and tasteless but........that's more my issue than any thing else. I can ignore it.

I am that way too. I think it has a lot to do with my mother. She was big not telling personal stuff to anyone outside the immediate family.

I don't have a problem with others sharing, except for the examples you mentioned. If they are too annoying, I just skip by their posts. Cuts down on the time I spend here so I have more time for homework.

Ooh, you know my father? Man tells private information and can't remember where he heard it or who it was about. Imagine getting a phone call telling me something about my sister which was actually about me. Last time I shared anything sensitive with him.

If you were drunk and made a fool of yourself on the boards, then by all means apologize to the board. But if it's that "my mistress is making me embarrass my self here" shit, I don't need it. She's making a fool of herself and I object to getting dragged in. At the least, have the decency to title it in such a manner that the rest of us know to avoid it.

The sex stuff, well stuff gets asked in a how to manner or a why, and you get as much info there as from a scene report. So that I just ignore as somebody boasting they finally got lucky.

this is where lifestylers are profoundly fucked up. i don't see vanilla couples doing this archaic crap. no one wears a sign tied around their neck professing their shame and mistakes. what is this some new age scarlet letter? but as ridiculous as i find the whole scene i wonder who would allow themselves to be treated this way. i wonder what the person is getting out of it, and if they've sunk to a point where they're unable to reconcile that screwing up doesn't imply you should be shat upon.

They do quite frequentlly on vanilla sex boards. Try Literotica's "General Board" sometime...if you have the stomach for it. The same sorts of antics you see here get done there, they just have that... vanilla slant, lol. As here, the apologizers are often shat upon. I often wonder if this is pack/herd mentality of the "attack the weakest member" variety at work. Anyway, I think the public profession of shame is an internet messageboard thing, not a bdsm thing. Chatrooms are a bit different, in my experience. In a chatroom someone else does the outing/revealing and you don't apologize, you bluster and rage and defend yourself to the death. Different culture & medium brings out different responses, I guess.

Really your poll needed one more option. BOTH, that you do not like to see either.
I have the option of reading what I want, and skipping what I don't want.
Unless it interests me for some reason I won't reply, and I try not to add to the fire unless someone is being a total idiot on the matter.
