The professional wrestling business is run by carnies and she's married to the biggest one of all.

Her winning could only be bad for the WWE because it would bring into the public spotlight all the unsavory matters of the business she runs.

slutslave4u -> RE: WWE's Linda McMahon Running For Senate (9/16/2009 1:35:23 PM)

According to the article she has already been appointed to the Conn. Board Of Education, and was approved by the General Assembly....Not to mention that she has already resigned her position with the WWE.

"When McMahon was appointed by Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell to the Connecticut Board of Education, she sparked criticism from some lawmakers who said it sent a wrong message to children. Her appointment was approved by the General Assembly this year."

Are ye sure it isn't one of those farfetched plot lines where the evil character becomes the good character only to once again become the evil character in a way that is totally unexpected because it goes against their character track record?

If she ends up walking down a ramp carrying some kind of belt on her shoulder (a common problem these people not knowing how to wear a belt) we’ll know then as this will be her endgame.[8|]

Mad Dog Vachon for President!!!!!

DomKen -> RE: WWE's Linda McMahon Running For Senate (9/16/2009 2:47:35 PM)

Getting on a state BoE is reasonably easy. Running for Senate is a different matter altogether. For instance she is going to have to answer questions about steroid use amongst her former employees that have no answer palatable to most voters.

I understand this as well.....as well as steroid use amongst others within the WWE is much different than whether she herself has used them is......whether or not she had any knowledge of their use.

Thinking out loud here, yes She is on the State BoE....well known, finances to run and not to mention the current state of those now in office are in....I think actually that a shift will come, and you will see many lose their political positions to others.....The people are tired of the current state of politics with those now in office.

Just saying it could be interesting to see the outcome, whatever it may be is all

She'll have to answer questions about her husband and son-in-law's steroid and alleged HGH use.

She'll have to answer about the Chris Benoit murder-suicide which was likely influenced by the numerous concussions he suffered while she was the CEO of the company.

She'll have to answer for Eddy Guerrero's death, caused by an enlarged heart from years of steroid and prescription drug abuse.

There is an immense shadow that should, and I assume will, be cast over her time as CEO of the WWE.

slutslave4u -> RE: WWE's Linda McMahon Running For Senate (9/16/2009 3:40:16 PM)

I'm not saying questions may or may not come up that she may or may not have to answer.....but hey, If Ted Kennedy with all the family money they had/have, can get away with what he did and still get elected many times into office...who knows, anything can happen

All she has to say is her husband was acquitted of all charges. And her son-in-law's alleged steroid and HGH abuse is just that, alleged.

Chris Benoit suffered concussions throughout his career, not just the time he spent working for the WWE. And besides, as CEO she's far enough removed. Would we hold Bill Gates responsible if a person working at Microsoft murdered their family?

Eddy Guerrero was released from the WWE and only offered a position back when he was clean. His death was a freak accident after more than a year of being clean. Therefore WWE's hands are clean of that.

You missed the most obvious of them all, Owen Hart's death. But regardless, I have a hard time seeing Linda having to deal with hardline questions about that. Her husband has been the most public figure and taken all the heat. When you think shady, you think Vince McMahon, not Linda.

Linda can easily point out her involvement with numerous Get Out and Vote rallies that the WWE has organized every four years, and the annual Tribute to the Troops show they do every Christmas.

Granted, there is still that dark cloud around the WWE. Everytime some stupid parent lets their stupid kid get hurt, they go running to the WWE to point the finger. They tell their kid wrestling's all fake, and then are shocked when their kid nonchalantly throws wrestling moves around, and actually gets hurt.

Along with videogames and loud music, pro wrestling is one of the more convenient scapegoats. So Linda does still have an uphill battl.e

SpinnerofTales -> RE: WWE's Linda McMahon Running For Senate (9/16/2009 5:39:00 PM)

There is no way in hell-in-a-cell I would vote for Linda McMahon for dogcatcher, much less senator. What she and her husband did to ECW alone should disqualify them for citizenship, much less public office!

Sorry...I had a geek moment there.

That's funny.  I read the replies before clicking the link, and knew just by the attackers that she was running as a Republican.

Forget the wrestling scandals though.  How is she going to explain the XFL???

Attackers? I'm a fan of the WWE, I just think it will be a terrible idea for her dirty laundry to be aired.

Nice of you to politicize it though, sweetcheeks.

Screw the democrat/republican crap, Heretic. I wouldn't support her because I'm a wrestling fan! "Sports Entertainment" my ass!

subrob1967 -> RE: WWE's Linda McMahon Running For Senate (9/16/2009 8:05:04 PM)

Or she could just block anyone's attempt to look into her background ala Obama, I'm sure she can afford to.

Arpig -> RE: WWE's Linda McMahon Running For Senate (9/16/2009 8:30:44 PM)

Well why not? She's a successful businesswoman, spent years at the head of a multi-million dollar corporation that has weathered recessions and scandals and continued to make money, and is overwhelmingly dominant in its field. Sounds as good a resume asmany other aspiring pols...Vantura got elected, so did Arnie, and their use of steroids didn't hurt them, so I doubt the steroid issue will be much of a big deal. The Benoit and Guerrero deaths, while lamentable also probably won't be much of a big deal...Guerrero died mostly as a result of his drug abuse,something the WWE tried to stop, and Benoit...well nobody really knows why he did what he did. Owen Hart, now this one might be more of an issue, but again I suspect that most of the heat will be on Vince...I suspect he will take most of the blame for all the dirt on himself...he's already known as a sleazeball, so what's a little more dirt.

Without knowing her stance on any issues I'd say she's got as good a chance of winning the nomination as anybody...don't know if a Repub is electable in Connecticut or not...don't actually know jack shit about Connecticut other than its between New York and Boston [:)].

I'll tell you what the big deal is. The McMahons took the greatest wrestling promotion of all time, ECW and turned it into a second rate WWE light. They wouldn't give Rob Van Dam, perhaps the best wrestler of our generation a decent push to save their lives. They have single handedly taken away my entire Monday night by making RAW unwatchable. They "future endevored" both Sabu and the Sandman. In short, THEY SCREWED UP MY PRO WRESTLING FIX!

You think the republicans are mad about healthcare? You aint seen mad yet till I get going on this one!

Linda McMahon is a socialist, comunist, facist nazi who seeks to turn this country back to the days of The Gobeldy Gooker.

Oh..and as a Canadian, you should be just as enraged for the sake of The Montreal Screw Job if for nothing else!

sorry.....another geek moment. I'll try to work on that.

Maybe watch some Mick Foley matches and breathe deeply, Spinner.  It was fun while it lasted, but it was never going to be sustainable.  Not to mention that Vince had the deep pockets the lawyers would have come after for ECW inspired mayhem....

Yes, Mick Foley is good......Mick Foley is good....calming down....it's ok now.

DomKen -> RE: WWE's Linda McMahon Running For Senate (9/16/2009 10:41:55 PM)

I'm really not getting this. Isn't it pretty obvious to everybody that a lot of the major stars of her company are and have been for a long time users of steroids? Don't a lot of the 'role model' arguments that were made against the MLB players apply to her company as well?
