I have been looking around at fetlife lately and I have noticed something I never noticed before. Ok.. maybe I have noticed it but my head glosses over before I move on to other things, rapidly hitting the X on my way out. When you respond to an email or a thread do you engage in minute bits of "descriptive talk" For instance something like this: slips in quietly ~ gives you a soft hug ~ slips away and grieves for your sorrow I have noticed that many people give hugs and kisses.. but this is more than that. Fetlife has this wall thingie where people can post their thoughts or leave comments on other people's wall. If you have a buddy list at all, you can see what is written on someones wall without really being part of that conversation. I see a lot of descriptive talk, as if they are giving a blow by blow detail of any event. I got up out of bed this morning, rubbed my eyes and felt around the nightstand for my glasses. Walking over to the kitchen I flipped on the switch for my coffee pot and plodded over to the shower. Removing my glasses once again I placed them on the glass shelf that sits above my porcelain sink.... I enjoy writing, but I rarely think of this venue as something I would live out in text. Besides the odd hugs, kisses and licks I see on forums, do you engage in descriptive talk? Is it so that things are more real in this virtual world?

Sounds like what I've read about twitter. People doing play by play narratives of their life. I understand that if you've stopped into the coffee house downtown, you would like it if a friend in a nearby shop stopped by also. But the rest of it? I see no purpose.

Eh sometimes I use descriptive talk but mostly no, it's just to flowery and somehow fake to me. It's really popular amongst some people in chat rooms, You'll see them come in and then o post this big post about coming in and how their long hair shimmers and sways and their soft blue eyes survey the room and they walk to their chair hips swaying tauntingly, sit down cross their legs daintily clear their throat softly and say hello every one, and it just clogs up chat and takes several scrolls to get off the chat.

No, and what you described gives me the icky heebie jeebies. Makes me wish I could reach through the computer and poke them repeatedly, with a very sharp stick.

Frankly...Most of the time i don't think people read the responses i write to the serious threads on here...let alone the random stupidity ones....So, i guess i'd be out of my freaking mind to think that anyone would give a rats behind to care to hear or want to know the blow by blows of my daily life.... More importanly.... i don't want to tell anyone all of those details...... Additionally.....i'm too lazy..... And frankly....it's a full time job for me and god to keep up with the thoughts in my head...... so to think about having to share those thoughts with someone else...well.....damn...i think i might need some kind of cocaine or some other kind of medication..... LMAO!!!! I will admit I have the same impulse. It is why I hit the big X and get out as soon as I can. Only on fetlife.. it is more obvious and in your face. I always feel like I am being privvy to something that is not my business. It can be like that on facebook too. I only pot news on facebook if I was doing something cool or got a job or something. Its rediculous when people write about how they took a pee just now.

I don't use it, I do use runs hides kinda as a substitute for one of those smilies ya can find there..rarely use it though. I don't think I use other ...actions. I don't like those in general....way to chat-roomish n kinda..creepy. Added somebody I don't remember whom off the other side to my yahoo n they used that "action" talk aaaaaaaaaaalways fixes my skirtcrosses legs etc.etc. it was driving me CRAZY I gave up trying to have a conversation with that person.

I actually think this type thing, "slips in quietly ~ gives you a soft hug ~ slips away and grieves for your sorrow " is really cool. I think that lines says so much. I don't know what site blabs on, but really, in some cases I think that would be a nice way to say things in a short simple way. I think this....(((((((hugs))))))) doesnt work as well as saying, "Gives you a soft hug. My love and comfort to you". Just my 2 cents. I may not be understanding what the beef here is.
