gbgirlz2003 -> collarme and google (3/1/2006 3:52:37 AM)

I thought these message boards were only available to members; turns out I was wrong. Do a google search of your nic here and every thing you have posted will pop up. Can the site owners limit access? This will be my last post. I don't mind my kinky friends knowing my business; but I don't want the world knowing it. Bye for now.

MstrssPassion -> RE: collarme and google (3/1/2006 4:13:47 AM)

How is "the world" going to gain any insight as to who you are? Besides, is this screen name something that the world will be googling?

Chaingang -> RE: collarme and google (3/1/2006 4:23:26 AM)

If one google's "gbgirlz2003" all one sees are hits for alt.com. That's what I saw anyway.

The google cache shows a picture of a woman sucking two men's cocks and the statement: "22 year old Woman Looking for Men, Women, Couples (man and woman), Couples (2 men), Couples (2 women) or Groups Living in Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States"

I find this pretty funny...

LOL it is a nice pic anyway.

Interesting. When I tried this, it mixed our profile up with someone else's (a male) and didn't show -any- of my message-board posts.

geeze... i put my nic into dogpile.com and my posts showed up, with everyone else's pics and responses..... i, too, thought this was "members only" access.... will certainly slam my brakes on for posts and confirms my initial thoughts of not putting my pic out there!

thank you so much for bringing this to our attention!

The message boards can be viewed without signing in. You will be seen as a "guest" until you do. But anyone can read the forums whether they are a member or not.

i'm not finding this to be so. But thanks for the headsup anyway.

LadyJulieAnn -> RE: collarme and google (3/1/2006 4:57:58 AM)

I was able to get my CM profile and a couple of my forum postings, in addition to another site where I have some pics posted of my sub (face hidden). Hmmmm.

Be well,
Julie

It's not so much the screen name as particular bits of personal information that might leave you vulnerable. This may sound wierd, but it's the type of thing that can happen: If for some reason you mentioned on this site that you raise Portugese water dogs with your submissive, then six months later mention that you're in Florida, then three months later mention that your submissive is fixing up his '64 Mustang, then four years from now one of your distant friends in the Portugese-water-dog-raising community might be Googling around, maybe to try to get the personal web site of that woman who had the boyfriend who had the Mustang.

Sound far fetched? It's already a lot less far fetched than you think, and it's becoming less and less so. I have to Google all the time at work, and I'll take any bit of information I can to narrow down the search.

I wish the people operating this site would NOT make the inner pages available on Google.

Unless the owners of the forum use a robots.txt file to restrict the search engine bots that crawl the web looking for indexable content, your posts may show up in a search engine listing. That's just the way it works. A lot of people freaked out when they archived and indexed USENET-and all of our long-dead posts and flame wars came back to haunt us.

Never say anything on a forum (indexed or otherwise) that you don't want the world knowing about. On the Internet, privacy and anonymity are only illusions.

I have to agree with MistressPassion and MysticalPhoenix--one has to know the screen name--I use one that is a derivative of Mistress Hathor of Orleans for that reason, google on Mistress Hathor you will get your Egyptian History for the day (and Isis too IronBear)--google on the screen name and yes you will get My profile and postings, but as Ms Phoenix said, don't post anything you don't want someone to read---besides this is members only, but in all fairness there is no more screening here than on yahoo--My boss could be lurking here as well---the difference is, who in their right mind would stand up in a board room and say : "You are a Mistress and I read your profile"--My question would be; " Why were you looking?!"

MsIncognito -> RE: collarme and google (3/1/2006 6:24:07 AM)

It's a good idea to just assume that everything and anything you post on the internet can be found by someone else and may come back to haunt you. If you're not comfortable with that then it is best if you remove all of your information from this and other sites you don't want to be associated with.

O, its so.

Phoenxx -> RE: collarme and google (3/1/2006 7:22:27 AM)

When you send an email, it leaves your computer and goes to your ISP's mail server. It then is transferred to a secondary server. From there it is routed through several more until it finds the server of the recipient. It is stored there until that person retrieves it.
At any point it can be read, saved, stored, changed and …
If you’re talking on IRC something similar happens.
There is no privacy online.
Hell there are key loggers, spy ware, Trojans and on and on.
And then there are the defences, encryption programs for irc, email, spy sweepers and more.
However, if your boss, priest, mom doesn’t know your screen name your fairly safe. If however they do, why did you tell them? And if they walk up to you saying I saw your picture on this website ask them what they were doing looking for you and why did they check that site out? Who knows maybe they will be more understanding then you think.
I use my real name. Go ahead do an internet search on Tony heh.
And out of 5 pages of results that showed up on a Google search almost all were from ALT.com
Personally, I’m not too worried about tons of people sitting out there reading my words, learning what I think and who I am. After all isn’t this why we post here?
Plus what if your mom, boss, priest join the site? Then they can log on and see everything anyway. How can you put a stop to that too?
Tony

Arpig -> RE: collarme and google (3/1/2006 7:52:17 AM)

I googled my screen name and made a VERY distressing discovery..."Arpig" is an Armenian girl's name....the poor, poor things...that is just cruel!!!
As to your posts being viewable via Google...so what??? What are you ashamed of??? Isn't being read the whole point of posting???

MasterOwnskitty -> RE: collarme and google (3/1/2006 8:19:45 AM)

Talk about calling the kettle black, or in her case, the oral fixation of penises - cock sucking two men.

There's a difference between being read by a certain group and being read by everyone.

I agree that you shouldn't post if you don't want ANYONE to read it, just like you shouldn't go to a club if you don't want ANYONE to see you.

But everyone has different levels of being out, and it has nothing to do with being ashamed.
