No. I was simply trying to wake up the hand that had fallen asleep. I have never caught myself stealing from me. I've only deduced that I have from the clues I have found at the scenes of the crimes.

No. I don't have fingerprints for I have removed them via an acid wash.

People who walk the edge of darkness know better than to leave physical evidence behind. The clues I have found are electronic in nature, living as pixels on a screen, forgotten transactions in an account, that sort of thing.

Nope, not a thief. I believe in karma and as such, even if I were to *get away with it*, it would come back around. So, in actuality I try to do good things without being asked, cause karma works both ways.

To think about it, perhaps a better question would be "Have you EVER stolen anything?"

Though I am not a thief I will admit that as a young child I once stole a postcard, however I thought they were free.

As a teenager I stopped at a store, saw a book I wanted, tucked it under my arm while I got a soda and proceeded to the counter with the full intent to pay for everything. Got stopped by a friend and by the time I got to the counter I forgot about the book. I was three blocks from the store before I remembered it and took it from under my arm. I was wearing one of those huge parka type coats and did not feel it.

There is another instance of thievery in my life but I am under a gag order to not speak of it. This was 20 some odd years ago though, and since then I have not intentionally taken anything.

But how many of you have gotten too much change and did not give it back. That is theft, even if not your fault.

How many of you have been in a grocery store and eaten some grapes before getting to the counter. Since they can no longer be weighed, you stoled those grapes.

I knew a woman that would stop by the bulk granola and get a bag, she would let her children nibble on it while in the store and then pay for the remainder when she got to the cashier. How could the cashier possibly ring up the amount that 4 children ate while they were in the store for 30 minutes? Yet she did not think she was stealing anything.

You would be surprised how many honest people do steal and never realize they are doing it.

For the elderly man that ate the raw hamburger while he was shopping, at least the hamburger had been preweighed with a price so the right price could be charged. That man was honest even if he was gross.

I give back extra change. I spent ten minutes in the sushi place explaining he added the bill wrong and I owed ten dollars more. If I had had a ten I would have left it on the table with a note rather than deal with explaining it.

When the insurance company paid to repair the car, I gave them back the money for the fog lights since we didn't replace them. I got a letter back thanking me signed by the president of the firm.

Actually DesFIP, I give back the extra change or tell them they figured my bill wrong, too.

along the lines of the two posts above this one...

I was cashing a paycheck at Walmart 2 weeks before Christmas, the customer service clerk was interrupted while she was tendering the disbursement. When she finished, she pushed the pile of money towards me, and I asked her what the amount of the check was, and then to count the money again. She would have given me $220 more than the check was for. My son was with me, and asked why didn't I take the "free" money. He's worked retail before, and I asked him, had the girl's cash drawer come up that much short, who would be responsible for the shortage, and what kind of Christmas would she and her family possibly have.

eta... the look of gratitude on her face was much nicer than the look of disgust I received when I made the request. A polite smile and a Merry Christmas was thanks enough.

I don't think dominance has anything to do with thievery personally. If you're a low life scum you're a  low life scum, just happening to  also be a dominant wouldn't make you any likely or less likely to be a low life scum.

As a writer type, I have been taught to steal relentlessly, to file away the serial numbers assiduously, & to scan for desirable material endlessly . . . . .

So, depends on whatcha mean by the word 'thief' . . . . . . Ya didn't have a more nuanced choice that said, say, mostly honest but with shadings of 'thieving' . . . . . .

Plus, I'm socialism-friendly, & lots of rather purist capitalists regard that as 'thievery' . . . . .

Oh. As for the corollary between dominant orientation, huh, nah. I suspect those are independent spectra, moral suasion to steal versus assertive exertion of will, to briefly sketch the poles . . . . . & with the former given to more situational variation than the latter, I'd suspect . . . . .
