If I owned an ice cream truck would I advertise that fish was not sold here?
If I ran a porn shop would I put a notice on my door saying 'horses not welcome?
and if I went on an adult holiday would I expect to see ums?

So why do so many people list things on there hard limits list that has nothing whatsoever to do with BDSM?

I have been watching the pigeons nest on my neighbors roof all summer...n they're still there[:D]
I guess I like bird watching[8|]

Because maybe they're giving you a better view of them as a person, not as your kink partner.

'cause I REALLY hate brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes! [:'(]

And I feel left out when I can't think of any sexual or BDSM activity 'hard limit' I wouldn't do, at least on the handle side of the paddle, and didn't want to feel left out!

I hate country and bluegrass music, and being forced to listen to it would be worse than lots of "lifestyle" related tortures, so those are my hard limits that I've listed. As to lifestyle hard limits, I pretty much leave those up to DB.

Because there are more aspects to life, like birdwatching, so it is not a far fetch to see one may encouter such a thing

and I hate mint icecream, marmite, liver casserole, spiders and my mother coming to stay for more than a few days!!
but thats not really what I meant. I actaully gave you a few clues in my first post but was trying to be tactful.
I was meaning illegal acts that somehow get associated with BDSM hard limits and I'm not sure why.

I am understanding you perfectly. Perhaps what I should have posted is... what is one region's or culture's prohibitions is still not yet prohibited in other cultures or regions?

because i'm seeking a person, not an android. if you've ever heard someone that seemed real appealing open their mouth and quickly dispel that notion you'd understand why. kink is only part of the picture, at least it is for me. i refuse to serve a sexy idiot.

Thats a very good point and not one I have thought about but surely that has to be so far in the minority. Most of us on here talk very specifically to people in our own country for logistical reasons. When I was single I looked for a partner in the UK and yet time and time again I was given one particular hard limit that I for one don't consider has any part in BDSM and it always baffled me as to why they would relate it.
By naming this as a hard limit makes it appear that, that is what some people are into. putting it in the same context as BDSM is in my opinion wrong.

On a lighter note I have to laugh to myself when I read 'no animals'. I wonder how my dog would of felt being walked by someone way down in the pecking order. He could of considered that unconsensual abuse!

People list things because it is a way to express something they detest. It is good to know that stuff. If someone was expected to go to ... I don't know... Wine tasting tours in Napa Valley with one's M-type, it would be a terrible fit for a recovering alcoholic.

It's just another way to communicate.

I rather like the fact that people are putting stuff that has nothing to do with BDSM down as a hard limit, myself.
"I have no problem with scat or being nullified, but no way in Hell am I listening to '80s pop music or eating a vegan diet!"
It's a nice touch, and the fact that people feel that strongly about stuff is quite reassuring, really.
