EXACTAMUNDO!!! Without the public option the present bill does nothing but force all Americans to pay the insurance companies whatever they fucking want to charge or face a severe fine...sorry "surtax" come income tax time. Its a fucking joke, it only exacerbates the problem, it doesn't alleviate it at all. As much as Sanity and I disagree on most anything, in this case we are side by side...for different reasons, but the present Bill without a strong public option is nothing but the Insurance Corporation Profit Increase Bill. ORIGINAL: Arpig I agree entirely. What this country needs is a strong public option if not single payer. And we could have gotten it, maybe. Unfortunately, all it took was a few hundred million of insurance company lies, a republican party who realized that fixing this problem would harm their desire to retake power in this country and a whole bunch of people who got hung up on death panels and socialized medicine instead of focusing on what would actually work and the whole thing went to shit. This one is our fault, folks. It's the fault of those who shouted the public option down and those of us who let it be shouted down. Now, our government is listening to the voice of the people. And what is going to come of it is another corporate bonanza that will do nothing to alleviate the problems we needed solved in the first place. I think this is one we're all going to lose on.
