Don't count on it..as much as I believe the health care reform without the public option is nothing more than a massive government subsidy for the insurance companies, that is what I am beginning to think they are going to pass...I am afraid that the public option is likely dead....I hope not, but.....?

EXACTAMUNDO!!! Without the public option the present bill does nothing but force all Americans to pay the insurance companies whatever they fucking want to charge or face a severe fine...sorry "surtax" come income tax time. Its a fucking joke, it only exacerbates the problem, it doesn't alleviate it at all.

As much as Sanity and I disagree on most anything, in this case we are side by side...for different reasons, but the present Bill without a strong public option is nothing but the Insurance Corporation Profit Increase Bill.

I agree entirely. What this country needs is a strong public option if not single payer. And we could have gotten it, maybe. Unfortunately, all it took was a few hundred million of insurance company lies, a republican party who realized that fixing this problem would harm their desire to retake power in this country and a whole bunch of people who got hung up on death panels and socialized medicine instead of focusing on what would actually work and the whole thing went to shit.

This one is our fault, folks. It's the fault of those who shouted the public option down and those of us who let it be shouted down. Now, our government is listening to the voice of the people. And what is going to come of it is another corporate bonanza that will do nothing to alleviate the problems we needed solved in the first place.

I think this is one we're all going to lose on.

Hey Spinner, don't feel to bad about it, you were never going to get what is the one and only solution to your healthcare problems anyway..the public option was nothing but a lame-assed second best...and now it looks like it is gone anyway...just vote the fucking thing down and try again after the mid terms, maybe if you all vote well you'll actually elect some people with the brains to see what needs doing and the balls to just do it regardless of the possible consequences to their chances of reelection.

question for either the "Sanity" seats or "Spinner" seats:  think the tobacco co's that provide the nicotine to nic-replacement "therapies" are gonna be laughing their parasitic asses off and be having a field day with this?

(I say this as a former "recipient" of Kaiser "care" , including so-called "assistance" in smoking cessation).

I honestly have no opinion either way, I'm not "feinting"; I wonder what YOU lads think.
