I never said whether I believed it one way or the other.

What I said was there has been evidence put forth, albeit circumstantial.

In Obama's case there has been no credible evidence, not even circumstantial.

Let's see... merit of accusations, eh? Let's recap:

BUSH: Lied about WMD, taking us to war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11.

OBAMA:  Accused of not being an American, despite all the evidence, and being confronted with obviously faked birth certificates.

BUSH: engaged Halliburton as a no-bid contractor for that war, because Cheany used to be on their board of directors. To date, they seem to have "misplaced" over 113 billion dollars in funding.

OBAMA: used ACORN to help raise support during the election. So far, the only evidence against them the right has been able to show that they are a corrupt organization is a trumped up video obtained via illegal, and unethical methods.

BUSH: wiretapped everyone.

OBAMA: suspended that program.

BUSH: turned America into a torture state. People have "disappeared" under his administration. Extraordinarily renditioned to other countries where they could be tortured outside the American legal system.

OBAMA: banned the torture.

BUSH: Didn't care about black people

OBAMA: Is persecuted as a President as a black man who is supposedly a "racist" even though half his family, including the beloved grandmother who raised him, is white.

BUSH: Was a cheerleader.

OBAMA: was head of his class.

BUSH: crashed the economy.

OBAMA: saved it.

BUSH: Addressed the UN, saying "We don't need your help, or your approval. You're either with us, or against us."

OBAMA: Addressed the UN and did his best to repair the damage Bush had done.

BUSH: appointed two arch conservatives to the SCOTUS, in an attempt to make sure that the little guy, (aka "We the People") took a backseat to the corperations who greased their palms.

OBAMA: appointed a supremely qualified latina woman, helping to make sure the judicial branch of the US actually began to look like the population of the US.

CHEANY: actually looked into having his own private death squad.

OBAMA: accused of planning "Death Panels"... on no evidence.

BUSH: Could only read "My Pet Goat" for 7 1/2 minutes while the US was being attacked.

OBAMA: Has written "The Audacity of Hope."

BUSH: Cut the taxes of the top 2% of the income earners (the uber rich) while increasing spending beyond all known levels. The national debt clock in Times Square runs out of numbers.

OBAMA: is allowing those tax cuts to expire, and has cut taxes for middle class Americans.

(This is actually pretty fun... feel free to continue it at your own pace.. there are literally HUNDREDS of comparisons like these.)

I would respond to you post Mars; however, I know that there will be MANY THAT WILL CHALLENGE YOU ON VIRTUALLY EVERYTHING YOU HAVE SAID in your last post of course. [8D]

I think you should do a whole lot of research on Obama and then delete your last post before it is too late.

Lets just say that Obama approval rating is currently at 48% per http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll. If Obama has done half of what you think he has done then why is his approval rating dropping at such an incredible pace?

Nope. Sorry. I stand behind my knowledge of events. Just as Sanity, I'm sure, will stand behind whatever Glenn Beck tells him to. No amount of GOP revisionist history will cause me to back off the fact that republicans suck the sweat off of a dead man's balls. (I've kept the clippings of the events as they occured.) Honestly, I would really, really like to know which inner circle of Hell itself they, the GOP, escaped from, before forming their thaolomide baby of a political party. By so knowing, perhaps we could all look up their grimorie of weaknesses in whatever Necronomicon their names are listed in, and force them back to whence they came.

And then the world would be a better place.

I'm really not sure your condemnation of the entire Republican party is at all fair Mars. There is no doubt in my mind that in its basis it is a great party with much to offer. Its just that right now and indeed for some time previously, its been taken over by forces which, whilst it would be pleasing to label them as evil as you suggest, are more akin to the work of Josef Goebbels - a clever and deliberately planned methodology which in appealing to the simple minded also favours those with power and wealth and seeks to maintain and profit from that status quo in its two constituencies.

That the left also comprises those who, likely in reaction to this methodology, have become more extreme is irrelevant to the Republican party debate, for if the Republicans are to regain their rightful influence then they have to win back their party from that methodology. It is notable that whereas similar forces are found on the left, they are largely ineffective in affecting Democratic policy overall, whilst for the Republican party these forces are currently in total control and with an addedly dangerous factor at work as its representation seeks by ever greater endeavour towards those ends to outdo one another, so moving the party ever closer to the vile model alluded to above.

It's news to me that Obama has done anything about the illegal detention (with attendant torture programmes) and wiretapping set ups that Bush established. If anything, he's extended the latter by setting up somebody in charge of a new organisation set up to administrate eavesdropping on the internet.
This sort of thing is why I find the Republicans calling the lad a communist so amusing.

AS for where the GOP's thalidomide baby of a political party came from, it was formed in the nineteenth century as a purely Northern organisation, and it's election of Lincoln as it's first President was one of the main causes of the civil war. How times change, eh?

Difficult to answer further without the context.  I've been watching politics fairly close for the last 30 yrs and yet I don't recall charges being made against Clinton as a murderer and drug dealer.  Could you refresh my memory, please?

As to your question, there is nothing stated in the dictionary as to what level of "evidence" must be brought forth to make it besmirching.  All that the dictionary states is that it must be done with malicious intent OR done falsely.  Now, if Clinton was besmirched and there is no evidence at all, then he was done so falsely.  If Bush was besmirched and there is even the slightest evidence but not enough to prove a case in a court of law (which has yet to be done, by the way.  He hasn't even been charged there), then there was malicious intent behind it.  Either way, it is besmirchment.

So far in nine months Obama has added more to the national debt than all the last 200 years of the republic. Yes, that's right. In mere months Obama doubled our national debt. Now the government will not even be able to tax enough to pay the interest on the debt, much less pay anything on principal. He has not only bankrupted us but is proposing even far more massive spending programs which we cannot afford and will lead us into either default on government debt or massive printing of money to pay the interest and - you guessed it, runaway inflation. He needs to be removed any way possible. He could destroy our nation long before the next election can be held. He has proven to be the most dangerous person to ever inhabit the Oval Office.
