I would put in my vote for the following (in no specific order): ~ Ran ~ Seven Samurai ~ Oh! What a Lovely War (one of my all time favourites) ~ Kagemusha ~ Alexander Nevsky (Eisenstein) ~ Ivan the Terrible (Eisenstein) ~ The Incredible Lightness of Being (I know most people find it overlong and dull as Hell, but I like it ) ~ Hell in the Pacific (I know its not really a foreign film, but still its fucking great. Just Mifune and Marvin for pretty much the entire movie, one speaking English and the other Japanese...its really cool without subtitles...you really get into Lee Marvin's character's shoes that way ). ~ No Man's Land ~ The Wansee Conference (Scary as Hell reenactment of the conference where the Nazis planned the Holocaust) ~ The Atomic Cafe (Not sure if its a Hollywood film or not...but its fucking good...track it down and rent it) ~ Siberiada ~ Nosferatu And I'll stop there..those are some of my favourites.
