Time to nip this in the bud, butt or whatever I'd say.

And how would you recommend this be done? Assassination? Invasion of Venezuela? Just curious.

I feel Chavez will be "tolerated" so long as sovereign countries are free to rule themselves without being under the strict control of the US which, btw and contrary to popular belief, does not and should not rule the world.............luci

I'm curious, why does everyone go straight too the need for hostile aggression or armed conflict? Interestingly, most people that think that way have never faced an armed advisory, personally.

But in fairness, as a man named Kenny once said, "sometimes you've gotta fight when you're a man". But that time isn't upon us yet.

In any event, I was thinking about doing things like drilling for oil here and over run the world supplies and drive costs into the ground and do so with the understanding that Detroit and other oil consuming industry do their patrotic part in weening us off gas guzzlers or oil consumers all together. And that's just for starters. You see if Venezuela doesn't have this huge money making capacity they would live within their means; much like the rest of us should.

But I guess even the "righteous liberal" types can't be so patriotic as to do things that would really serve a greater good.

And has it occcurred to you for that matter that you are in Venezuela's backyard? Although I'm completely against nuclear proliferation, reading parochial rants like yours nearly makes me wish Venezuela and all the other 'fureigners' you are so frightened of get the bomb: it might help people like you put things into perspective again. For you are not the cop of the world.

I think like Iran their last election said quite a bit.

Hmmmmm, I wonder if ACORN has offices in Iran and Venezuela?

How long do you tolerate Chavez? well at a guess I'd say just as long as the people of Venezuela do, its not like you really have much choice in the matter.

mnottertail -> RE: How long do we tolerate Chavez? (9/26/2009 6:27:30 PM)

where were you in tianemen square, or rwanda, or eritrea. or the congo, or in lebanon or in ...................?

But if it is so, why are we always putting our wallet in it and nobody else and we aint doing a great job of it anyway?

So says you....

But, ironically it more than appears that you seem to think you are!!!

I will offer you this, I'll stop considering the world outside of the US, but my money, my medicine and my efforts stay home as well.

Unless of course you come pissing in my nest, then get ready to understand why you FEAR me.

I'm curious, what type of self righteous, indignant and superior natured act was this above wording intended to imply. Do you think this ole cowboy type is such an inferior hick to your highly bred European ass that you have the right to imply I can't understand things outside of the sticks?

But I suppose that follows along the lines of those twue and sewf ritechous princess types.

Nope, but your horse is probably too high for you [8D] .

Well actually when I used the terms fear me, it was rhetorically a reference towards fear US, as in the U.S. But if you weren't so busy trying to attack me as opposed to my comments you might have caught that.

So my horse and I are sized quite perfectly.

Oh and you don't have to live in a land where my type of asshole dwells.

Which is precisely why I chose to live in the land where my husband lives [;)] .

If you take my points personally, it's up to you to decide why you are so emotionally invested in the affairs of Venezuela - I doubt it's for human rights reasons, notwithstanding FatDad's incursion up there.

Edited for dodgy syntax.

xBullx -> RE: How long do we tolerate Chavez? (9/26/2009 7:03:52 PM)

Spin it however you want girlie...

You know what you were up to, and this conversation with you, from your perspective had almost nothing to do with Chavez, nevermind his country or origin.

Then you need to get a better handle on your thread, because the subject I was addressing was your original post, which implied that you felt you somehow have the right to 'no longer tolerate' a foreign head of state just because he pisses you off personally.

Come on, Bull. I have known you to be more reasonable, and indeed, more inclined towards good humour :-) .

xBullx -> RE: How long do we tolerate Chavez? (9/26/2009 7:17:51 PM)

My thread is just fine.

I asked a question about a man I see no reason to trust... He has as much right to distrust me, and like me, if he wants to play that way he, like me will have to one day face the music.

And I do believe I have the right to no longer tolerate anyone, the question is what will be done about it and when, again that was the subject matter of my OP. I was asking what others think about Chavez, so have an opinion or not. But all the same, you shot at me first.

As always agendas are always afoot.

As I said, spin it however you want.

I have studied a bit of history, and from that I have learned not to trust heads-of-states that create/manufacture food shortages causing their own people to starve and die.  It seems to go hand in hand with other unpleasant things.

However, that being said, there are people around these parts who really think that Uncle Joe was a nice guy who was just misunderstood.

Fellow -> RE: How long do we tolerate Chavez? (9/26/2009 11:00:05 PM)

Hugo Chavez paid to Russians for weapons by recognizing  two provinces of Georgia Abkhasia and South Ossetia (Russia plans eventually to annex into its own territory) as states (Nicaragua is the only other UN country that Russians have been able to buy).

popeye1250 -> RE: How long do we tolerate Chavez? (9/26/2009 11:05:34 PM)

I believe in "human rights", for my fellow citizens here in the U.S.
Am I to be held responsable for the "human rights"of people in foreign countries too? I don't think so.
Arpig, you get your own "human Rights" up there in Canada!
People shouldn't be concerned with this "Chavez" guy anyway. Why, oil?
Brazil's new find is bigger than all the oil in Saudi Arabia. It's ENOURMOUS! Go into the business sites and read about it.
The oil cos are really going to have to struggle to keep gasoline above $2 a gallon.

In light of previous US policy in America, you have got to be kidding us. Every nation, mine included, has turned a blind eye to human rights when said rights contradict foreign policy.

Not in the UK, energy costs here are a rip off.
