SoquilisGirl -> pregnancy fetish? (9/27/2009 7:32:29 AM)

I have a question for the men (both Doms and subs) who really like pregnant women. What specifically is it about conception, pregnancy, and/or birth that turns you on? I've never been pregnant, and never been intimate with a guy who had this fetish, so I'm really curious.

I'm writing a novel where the submissive (who is in a relatively new relationship) finds out that she's pregnant. She's horrified, but her Dom is thrilled - because he has a fetish for it that he never mentioned to her. I want to be able to write about his desires and have it sound plausible and realistic, so I'm looking for whatever little thing it is that triggers that lust for you to help me understand it.

Thanks in advance!
PS - I plan to write this during NaNoWriMo in November, so I'd love to see answers before the end of October so I can work them into my plot/outline!

Nothing to add except i am really interested in the responses as well. I have heard men say they find pregnant women to be so sexy and really wonder why...

Moonhead -> RE: pregnancy fetish? (9/27/2009 8:48:31 AM)

I'm told it's a very common hang up (possibly common enough that it isn't considered a fetish by a lot of men), and I'd imagine lactation is a big part of the appeal. Possibly gender roles are an issue as well?

Not a man, but my thoughts:

A pregnant woman is demonstrating her fecundity, a biological imperative some respond to very strongly.

There is a mystery about it all.

There is often a glow of health and promise associated with it.

Hi Moonhead,

I get the lactation thing, although that's usually right at the very end of the pregnancy. What do you mean by "Possibly gender roles are an issue as well?"

Agreed; not a man either, but I think pregnant women are absolutely beautiful. Also, My subbie ex-husband used to say that there was this Mother Goddess thing about them that he found very attractive at gut level, because they were so glowing and ripe and healthy and gorgeous, and demonstrating the one thing they could do that he never could, that he felt made females superior, and felt it an act of highest worship to cherish and want to make love to them.. indeed. From some men I knew who had this fetish it was a turnon for them for the fact that it was an ownership and manhood thing.

Their sperm made this woman pregnant. She has someone growing in her because of him. Sterility is a huge esteem issue for men going back to the dawn of time.

The more offspring a male had the more of an alpha leader of the tribe he was. It was all about survival of the fittest. The more seed the more prolific the tribe.

SoquilisGirl -> RE: pregnancy fetish? (9/27/2009 10:17:26 AM)

This is what I figured too. I wonder why none of the guys I've asked yet have said this? Do they not realize? Or are they afraid I'd judge them for it? (If so they're being silly!) (Or maybe they honestly don't feel this way.)

I agree with what GoddessImaginos said too. I used to think I might want to get pregnant just to feel that sort of supreme Goddess power. It's not a good enough reason to have a kid though. ;)

Dom male here in case you didn't want to check the profile :p

Pregnant women are aesthetically pleasing (a round tummy that isn't that way because of poor diet and health looks nice), as well as exude sexuality and fertility. The only thing about it I don't like is knowing another man did that to her (I'm possessive)... but I can still appreciate how she looks. And there's something about using a pregnant girl's mouth and making her swallow, that really appeals. Can't be certain why, sorry.

Oh and since nobody has gone there yet, the joke that'll pop up eventually anyway:
You know they put out! [8|]

SoquilisGirl -> RE: pregnancy fetish? (9/27/2009 10:46:26 AM)

*chuckles* Yeah, a friend said that to me this morning. I said that was true of just about any woman you look at and he said, "Yeah, but there's proof right out there!" :)

DesFIP -> RE: pregnancy fetish? (9/27/2009 10:51:41 AM)

I recall back when I got pregnant the first time, the ex made the mistake of crowing about how he made me pregnant. I was green for four months straight and he never repeated that comment. Instances like that may be why men have gotten smarter than to boast about their ability, when the woman is doing all the work and suffering through it.

That time, I had to quit watching tv. Car commercials were enough to have me throwing up yet again.

AnimusRex -> RE: pregnancy fetish? (9/27/2009 11:31:30 AM)

I don't think it is always so powerful as to rise to the level of fetish; Meaning there is a normal natural biological drive for most women to want to be pregnant, and most men to want to impregnate.

It has been shown that we are hard wired to respond positively to a baby's features- the high rounded head, the soft features, etc. This has the obvious benefit of making us more willing to participate in family bonding. So it is that (IMO) men respond positively to a pregant woman. People are different of course, and find it aesthetically pleasing to different degrees.

I happen to just think it is powerfully beautiful, striking an emotional chord somewhere deep inside. I am not the only man who feels that being a father was the single most saticfying experience of my life.

As for the men who do have a strong sexualized fetish for it, I suppose it is just a different form of expressing the deep seated biological urge to touch and handle that process of procreation. Sometimes fetish is a way of dealing with things we aren't willing or able to deal with directly- death, procreation, bodily functions- the same way that humor is a way of dealing with things that disturb or frighten us.

That's something a few more people have referred to. (Animus makes a very good point about biological function relating to this.) While I'm told that male pregnancy is something some people find interesting as a concept, it doesn't ever happen, so it could be argued that by getting pregnant a woman is cleaving more closely to her gender role. You know, the thing defined by society that feminists take issue with? I wouldn't have thought all guys into BDSM are Ward Cleaver types (though there is the widespread influence of John Norman) but it's probably a factor in at least a few cases.

SoquilisGirl -> RE: pregnancy fetish? (9/27/2009 12:29:21 PM)

Ahh ok. I thought that was kind of what you were getting at, but wanted to make sure. I'm hesitating to make my characters too traditional (because it makes me barf a little!) but that's where the story seems to be going.

There's few things more boring than traditional characters in pornography, true enough. I wouldn't rule out in the pregnancy fetish (which isn't limited to the BDSM community by any stretch of the imagination) though. Sorry to be so predictable.

SoquilisGirl -> RE: pregnancy fetish? (9/27/2009 1:22:55 PM)

?? I wasn't saying you were predictable. Just that my plot seems to be going that way and I don't think my readers would like it. I have to shake it up a bit somehow. But that's ok, this is the best part - the plotting. :)

SG
PS Well, the *best* part would be finishing and getting paid to publish it, but this is the best part *so far*. :)

I hear you: working out the plot is always a lot more fun than sitting down and writing something, isn't it?

ranja -> RE: pregnancy fetish? (9/28/2009 4:49:10 AM)

My Husband made the decision for me to get pregnant... i was insecure about it but as it turned out i loved being pregnant... i also felt aroused because of it.
my Husband felt very protective of me and as time went on, the more i needed Him the more powerful He felt.

Lashra -> RE: pregnancy fetish? (9/28/2009 5:12:41 AM)

Just a thought, part of it could be that a pregnant woman is dripping in hormones and are usually very horny. I know that I was and I can see where that would appeal to many males. Plus you toss in the lactation part of it and I can see lots of guys finding that appealing.

SoquilisGirl -> RE: pregnancy fetish? (9/28/2009 5:15:54 AM)

That's what I thought too, although a few guys have said their wives / GFs totally went off sex while they were pregnant and for months afterward. But at least it's good to know that if my character is horny it won't be atypical!
