Oh I think he is bitter, I think he is hateful of Republicans and average Americans and I think he is very wrong on what US policy should be... But...Vidal is a man of the left, which I am not. He's turned on Obama and regrets switching from Mrs. Clinton. AND...He's not alone in the power halls of the American Left.

You posted the article and vouched for the credibility of the man. So either you own it all or nothing. You can't claim he has remarkable insight in his remarks on Obama and then disavow his other statements.

I think that every terrorist action that has been stopped since 9/11 has been stopped by police, not military action. I think if we had spent one tenth on effective detection and prevention that we spent on wars that kept changing their objectives every week we'd be far safer than we are I think that shameful political advantage was taken after 9/11 to put through an agenda the neo-conservatives dreamed of putting in place for years and we're still suffering for it. We were encouraged to be afraid and we gave up every liberty they asked for and thanked them for keeping us safe. I don't like the Hitler comparison, but then again, I tried to get some agreement on the fact that such comments were beyond the scope of what a political debate can be and I've not seen a single person agree with me. The closest I've seen is "I don't like when THEY start yelling Hitler and nazi but when we do it it's fine"...so I've decided I will continue to avoid the terms and not expect better from anyone else. That's about what I think about the statements.
