It isn't. I've no idea where he gets that idea from, but Orwell is read outside the education system a lot more than (say) Dickens or Conrad.

I have never read any of Ayn Rand's books. I just don't go there - The mention is decent, i disagree with the selfishness motto but hey, compromise for a good read, right. Maybe i'll shift.. Thing that trips me up - is when i read opinions, people talk talk meakes me cringe in my nightie and step away bleck! the pretension. that said - the books have got to be better ;0

FR, after continuing read thru

Hmmmm, went to Wiki seeking out the number of books Baum wrote in the Oz series (13), & voila, look what I found:

I'd suggest starting with Anthemn, which is a very short book (100 pages or so), and provides a very concentrated dose of Rand's Objetivist philosophy. If that one dismays you, then I wouldn't bother with The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged.
